ANDY WOODS is a passionate electronic dance music fan and over passionate DJ/Producer.
Andy's love of electronic music started at an early age. The sounds of New Order, The Chemical Brothers, and his all time favourite group The Prodigy began the molding of a lifelong passion with electronic sounds.
Andy began following some of the big names in the UK & World DJ scene in the late 90's/early 2000's, the likes of Paul Van Dyk, Carl Cox, Tony De Vit, Sasha, John Digweed, Tiesto, Danny Rampling, Ferry Corsten, Gareth Emery, Layo & Bushwaka, Jeremy Healy, Tall Paul, Timo Mass, Armin Van Buuren and, the now good friend, Fergie.
With a love of music Andy began to follow the realms of DJing with a wish to manipulate and create his own musical journeys! Thankfully, great tuition from the Glicth DJ's Carl Hardy (a regular at Cocoon and Custard Factory in Birmingham) and Kirk Summers (Deprived) helped improve his technical skills and the push for regular gig slots began!
2009 has been Andy's best year so far and has seen him play some of the world’s most prestigious venues and events.
• Subliminal Sessions at Ministry of Sound, London
The first being ERICK MORILLO's 'Strictly' album launch party. Andy raised the roof, and, with a strong set and following, he was immediately asked back for further Subliminal events.
• Cream at Amnesia, Ibiza
The biggest highlights for Andy this year were generated by the generosity of the team at Cream. Andy flew to the White Isle in June for the Cream Ibiza opening party where he played to an anticipating crowd at Kanya and Bar M. This pre-party performance paved the way to Andy’s dream gig date.
On August 6th 2009, Andy had the honour of opening the world famous Amnesia terrace, warming up for heroes Nick Warren & Sasha. This was a dream come true for Andy with Amnesia being the first club he ever visited on the island back in the late 90's and both Nick and Sasha being big influences on Andy’s desire to be a DJ.
His set, from doors opening to a crowd of some 2000 by the end, concluded with a huge applause and resulted in an offer to play at Creamfields.
• Creamfields, Cheshire
With Ibiza still in his system he then returned from Ibiza to the UK to head up a mix of DJ's and artists on the now popular Jagermaister Stage at Creamfields.
• Livetek, Manchester
Andy was next involved with LIVETEK, a new Ableton Live Certified School in Manchester who began to host events and were keen to have Andy involved, both as a performer/DJ and also as a Mentor tutoring Ableton Live at various showcases and demonstration classes, having been a previous student.
Out of the booth and into the studio, Andy is working hard on production and is working closely with LIVETEK and his own record label 'Savage-Music'.
With 2009 a great success, Andy’s plans in 2010 are even bigger!
