Bas Struik was born in Eindhoven (The Netherlands) in the mid 80’s and for as long as he can remember he has been surrounded by music. At the age of 17, he bought his first turntables. His already existing passion for electronic music grew even bigger and bigger after purchasing his first set of decks. He started collecting records and could be found in ‘Rare’ record store (R.I.P.) in Eindhoven 7 days a week. The first few years, he played a wide range of genres: from techno to minimal and from disco to electro. Artists that inspired him a lot are: Matt John, Omar S, Romanthony, Robert Dietz, Depeche Mode, Lauhaus, Loco Dice, Mathias Kaden, Luciano, Tim Green, Quenum, Sascha Braemer, Oliver Koletzki, Stimming, Sandy Huner, Ricardo Villalobos and Marco Resmann. Bas started out playing on big illegal raves like Diepgezonken, which got him into club nights in cities like Amsterdam, Utrecht, Eindhoven and Nijmegen. One of his most memorable gigs in those days, was in the Effenaar in Eindhoven, playing alongside Dave Clarke and 2000 and One. Producing After a whole lot of club nights, he focused himself on producing for a while. In this Period of time, he got less gigs, because he was completely focused on producing music. In 2009 Bas graduated for his audio course at the highly respected SAE in Rotterdam. When he picked up playing at events again in the beginning of 2009, the amount of gigs went up and he had a slamming first ever live performance at Lief Festival 2009! At the same time he became resident DJ for Club Poema and played his gigs all over the country while he never stopped spending time in his studio. Live Act At the moment Bas’ career is going strong. Besides spinning records at the clubs regularly, Bas locks himself in his studio to produce new tracks and to improve his live act. Proven by his very successful live gigs at Studio 80, Club Poema, ADE 2010 and at Soenda Outdoor festival 2011, his live act is an ongoing success! Always evolving, while Bas incorporates his newest tracks in it all the time, his livesets are never the same and every time surprising! 2011 With several of his EP’s and tracks released on respected labels like Sound Architecture, TEAM Records, Phat Elephant, Hi-Life and upcoming releases on Amsterdam based label 90watts, Bas has now fully dedicated his life to his career in music.
