Bass Kleph (aka Stu Tyson) looks deceptively young for someone planning a breaks take-over, but don't be fooled by the fresh face and easygoing nature. Beneath that mild mannered façade lurks a rhythmic mastermind. At just 22, he's clocked up 13 years in music; drumming his way through various bands on the live circuit, recording for a major, even performing on national TV.

Although drumming has always been essential to his grand break beat plans, Bass Kleph never had any intention of becoming the next Phil-fucking-Collins. While still at school the drums were trashed in favour of some more diverse digital trickery. This was also a time of intense intelligence gathering, racking up a formidable collection of breaks classics from his beat contemporaries. As he studied the masters though his own ideas on how things should sound kept taking over. Soon enough he had - for his own pleasure - remixed, rejigged and basically reworked tracks by the likes of Roni Size, Fat Boy Slim and Tipper (he sent his mix of ‘Donut' to Tipper and it only narrowly missed UK release).
