Influenced by the early rave scene that took place in the 'shires', and his father's love for music made by computers (yes that's right, his father was out exploring the rave scene, don't ask!) and it was listening back to those early mixtapes that he would borrow from his dad, that showed the way for his chosen musical path.
Jamie naturally was led into the emerging Chicago and Detroit sound crossing the pond, and it was artists like Derrick May, Sneak, Todd Terry and Mood II Swing that led the way for his vinyl buying trends, that combined with also being influenced listening to DJ sets here in the UK from the likes of Sasha, Eddie Richards and Tyrant have developed his genre spanning sound that he plays today.
He went on to promote his first parties in his hometown of Oxford, where he set-up his Playground night being one of a few bringing 'House' music into Oxford after the rave scene died down. It was being a promoter initially that inspired him to DJ, so he purchased his first pair of 1210's and taught himself how to mix 2 records together - it's not rocket science is it?
Playground grew into it's own and soon left Oxford for London, here he put on some of London's freshest parties, inviting DJs over to play who's music he was really into...that's what Playground was built on, showcasing to the masses DJs/Producers who's music really inspired him, Marc Romboy, Will Saul, Pig & Dan, Argy, Phil Kieran, Funk D'Void, Paul Woolford, Switch, Soul Mekanik plus many many more.
Jamie or Cedric by then as he was known always took on the warmup of the club, an art that he feels is very important - if not 'THE' most important part of the night, something he takes very seriously. Playground frequented some of London's most influential venues, The Key, The Cross, EGG and 333 where it held a 2 year residency.
As he got more involved with the music side of things, dabbling in minor production himself and having many friends who were making music he decided to set up a record label with good friend Alex Jones, the label is Hypercolour and it is full steam ahead for them at the moment. 13 vinyl releases in and some amazing music on route the future looks bright for Hypercolour. Residencies at The End (RIP) and now at Ministry of Sound for Steve Lawler (a big fan of the label we might add!) and various stints at London venues like East Village, Aquarium, Lightbox continues to see that Cedric is spreading the Hypercolour vibe throughout London and the world....
