Chris Finke

Chris Finke is an international DJ, producer, promoter and broadcaster currently residing London.

THEN
Chris Finke was raised between the Midlands county of Northamptonshire and the island of Ibiza. His introduction into dance music, like many others, was through the UK rave scene. Weekly visits to legendary clubs such as The Eclipse, Milwaukees and large scale parties like Weekend World, Amnesia House and Perception in the early 90s gave him his first taste of what was to become his life's passion. He had dabbled in bedroom DJing with hip hop and electro beats for a while, but rave and techno soon took over as and it wasn't long before it became a huge part of his life after visits to clubs like Club UK, Lost and Open. He started playing at clubs and parties quickly after which gave him a good grounding and understanding of playing to crowds early on.

During some years out for education and a career in radio broadcasting, Chris concentrated for a while on the technical side of DJing, appearing in the UK DMC championships. In 2001 Chris decided that his future lay in music and together with Andi Hawes, launched "Flux", a series of London parties and off shoot record label which would play host to a long line of big name DJs and acts from all over the world. These included Underground Resistance Live, Slam, Stacey Pullen and Octave One and It was playing alongside them that Chris really started to cut his teeth. Guest spots at clubs up and down the UK and eventually Europe followed and he became a well known figure on the scene, regularly showcasing his 3 deck skills and gaining a following as he went. In 2003, his hard work and determination paid off and saw Chris make DJing his full time occupation. To cap this off, he was earned 2 residencies - at the seminal UK techno institution Atomic Jam in Birmingham (which he still hold today), and an international residency at Decadance in Ghent, Belgium. He was also asked to perform sets for Radio 1, Galaxy FM and Power FM in Ireland among others.

Also In 2003, he and Andi hooked up with Ben Sims to form "Split". Together they ran the parties that shook up the capital and arguably kick-started the techno scene in London again, with all time record crowds at Turnmills, a residency at The Key and one offs in hand picked venues all over town. Chris and Ben also produced and presented the now legendary "Split Radio Show" for 3 years between 2004 and 2007. The monthly show was syndicated worldwide on both FM and internet stations and received a massive loyal following of listeners tuning in every month.

NOW
While many of his peers have fallen by the wayside or struggled to move with the times, Chris continues to push things forward with both music, and new projects. Aside from his continuing residency at Atomic Jam, his electrifying DJ sets have taken him all around the world, from New York to Japan, from Moscow to Thailand and just about everywhere in between. His UK appearances continue to grow, and he is just as at home playing at Fabric in London or the Glastonbury Festival as he is intimate clubs like Stealth in Nottingham or Doornroosje in Holland. His well respected Flux Recordings label is home to both established "name" producers like Paul Woolford, Joey Beltram, Deetron and Mark Broom, and has helped to break new talent like Darko Esser and Max Cooper. Production wise, Chris has really found his groove, releasing big room records which are regularly feature in the boxes and charts of the most respected DJs in the industry. He is now a sought after remixer, with reworkings of artists such as Mark Broom and A Guy Called

Gerald under his belt to name but two, and Joey Beltram is remixing his "Viper Trax" for release in 2009 among others. His passion of broadcasting has now also fired up again, with the inception of "The Drop", a monthly radio show he produces and presents with Rebekah.

2009 looks set to be by far his busiest year yet, with a buzzing set of club dates, his first tour of both Australia and South America, and a return to Japan already in the diary.
