My Biography

Whazup World Wide Web,

So what makes me tick?  ~  That's a good question & the best answer is simply music. I've been collection records since around 86-87, DJ'n under the name DJ Jon Doe since around '91 & whenever people ask me what type of music I play I tell'em "whatevasoundzgooood". I've also been producing music for a while now & am werkin on getting enough product together for 2 12"~3 tracks EP's & a full length release of 10 or so other tracks (and I'm getting close to being ready to come out swingin).

In both my DJ'n & music production I don't limit myself to a certain style or genre, rather I try to see what's goin on in as many aspects of music as I can get my hands on & then by having a lil bit of just about any/every style of dance orientated music out there I can incorporate certain aspects from each of'em in new & exciting ways so that hopefully I'll be able to entertain everyone I can as best I can. And it has been that approach to music that has helped-n-blessed me to be able to perform @ such functions as ambient gatherings w/both Andy Hughes & LX Patterson of the Orb (on separate occasions), funky break parties w/Robbie & Gavin Hardkiss, warehouse shindigs w/Brett Johnson, Boo Williams & Glenn Underground, record store throwdowns where TC Islam was freestylin ova my beats & D&B raves w/Dieselboy, AK1200 & most of the Junglesky crew (to throw around some names).

Why do I do what I do, you may ask?  ~  Well, my reply to that'd be (in no particular order of importance) - [1st] I LOVE music (in almost every form/fashion/genre it comes in) - [2nd)] I love the feeling I get when I see the people on the dance floor just oscillating - knowing that what I'm doin behind the decks is having a direct effect on everyone's good time (that's a truly addictive feeling) - & [3rd] I do this because music is meant to be given-n-shared with EVERYBODY!!!!

My Musical Influences

Wow, well I've got way tooo many people I look to for inspiration to give ya a full list here, but @ the top of my all time favorites artists/entertainers I'll always go & see everytime they come within a 200 mile radius from where I'm @ are; Derrick Carter, Mary J. Blige, TMS1 a.k.a. Prisoners of Technology, R.A.W., Q-Bert, Mixmaster Mike, Robbie &/or Gavin Hardkiss, Paul Johnson, Metro Area & Raiders of the lost Arp.

On my list of people I still have to see live so I can check'em of the to-do list are; DJ Harvey, Idjut Boys, Tim 'Love' Lee, The Avalanches, Noisia, Akufen, Fort Knox Five, The All Good Funk Alliance, Kraftwerk, & Evol Intent

My Gear / Music Equipment

My 1st setup when I was just starting out included 2 Vestax PDT-5000 decks & a Jazzy Jeff Signature Series mixer (way back in the day). Currently I'm werkin it out on my 3 Vestax Decks (2 PDX-a1 + 1 PDX-a2) & a Vestax DSM-420 mixer (cause ya can't beat it's 7-band eq on both the left/right channels to allow ya to isolate certain freqs & sweep'em to give you a way better sound sphere quality over using just a simple pan [in my opinion]). I have all that running thru my sound system, digital recorder & computer.
For the production side I use Ableton 8.0.3, Reason 4, Acid 7, Sound Forge 10, Fruity Loops 9.0.3, Juno 1, Oxygen 49 keyboard controller, Akai MPD18 Pad Controller, a handful of rackmount effect processors/compressor/limiter/power conditioner, & way toooo many virual synths/drum machines/loops~sample cd's to list here, but my 2 Tb external HD + my 120Gb & 40Gb internal Hard drives are perty much packed full.
I also have but don't use on a regular enough basis to be proficiant wit'em; Logic 7, Protools 8 & Cubase 5.
What I still want to add to my arsenal; An Alesis Air FX, 2 Mackie HR824MK2 Studio Monitors & as many records as ya got.

Artists Record Bag
