DJ NUKEM was born under the Cancer sign to Italian parents in Neuchâtel, Switzerland.
Having always been a keen Hip Hop fan, he discovered is passion for housemusic in 1993. He became a regular guest at most parties all around Switzerland and soon decided to become a DJ himself. He had his first gig at the Lovezoo Club in his hometown Neuchâtel.
After only one year Nukem was already considered THE Headline artist at the Lovezoo Club and music took a bigger role than only a passion in his life.
He distinguished himself by combining his tracks with dirty house and twisted rhythms and had found his own identity.
In 1998 Nukem was performing already all over Switzerland and he also started his first studio works and published two tracks named "Dance in The Love Club” and “Come Together”, which appeared on a Lovezoo Compilation.
2000 the first serious release on Cyber Records “Shaiva” receive sucessful response from Steve Lawler, D.Tenaglia, John Digweed...and appear on Nu-Breed Global Underground mixed by Danny Howell and also on Pete Tong Essentialmix cd and was for 12 weeks n°1 in UK progressive-house charts.
Nukem's profile rose up and it was just a question of time till his international career started. His international debut was in 2001 having been invited to participate on the Renaissance Tour, which took him to the USA, where he performed in famous clubs such as The Buzz in Washington.
The trip around the UK which contained a gig at John Digweed"s Bedrock night was very successful, same the first dj Nukem solo release 'Instinct’ for the new Imago label and appear on Deep Dish Twilo compilation.
The next chapter of Nukem was an intensive relationship with Chab. The year 2002 was the year of remix requests worldwide. ‘The Darkside’ by Hypertraxx for Positiva Records, remixes of tracks by Moricoco and Sumantri and also his new track Secrets feat. On Bedrock records increased Nukem’s market value.
From now on Nukem turned off his private life - he switched between dj-gigs and studio work. He rocked the dancefloors all over Europe as well as several clubs in Japan and Mexico. Nukem played alongside like Carl Cox and Dave Seaman. In Switzerland Nukem was caught by Gogo’s Club Q for an headlining residency.
In 2003 Alex started new studio collaboration with artists like Titto La Rocka and Steven S with whom he produced the track ‘Sound Is Criminal’, which was a very successful release. In this period the demand for dj Nukem was bigger than ever before. He produced his own cd-mix album called ‘Seduction’, while his remix of dj Gogo’s ‘Sayna’ had been licensed by a Carl Cox album compilation. Finally dj Nukem’s masterpiece ‘Music Play’ appeared on the NU-BREED Global Underground cd – mixed by Satoshi Tomiie. This piece was ranked as no. 7 in the UK progressive-house sales charts of 2003.
Having started various collaborations in Zurich, Nukem decided to leave Neuchâtel and move to Zurich in early 2004.
Also he was enquired by Sony to produce a soundtrack for the portable play station produced a 4 minutes edit for the game ‘Gran Tourismo’.
The following challenges were also very interesting. Nukem’s second mix-cd compilation ‘Backstage’ was ready for it’s release (distributed by Sony) as well as his part 2 of his dj world tour through countries like the Netherlands, Hungary and Asia.
The year 2005 brought a lot of new steps in the career of Nukem as he got involved in different new projects.
Firstly – behind the decks his music changed in a rhythm style which is groovier, absolutely sexier and definitely more electronical (dirty electro house).
In a parallel way Nukem decided to start with club Q a new monthly event. Under the label ‘Pure Q’ he will bring a new entertainment into the clubs worldwide. This label contains exclusiv show acts and performances which were never seen before so far – and of course Nukem will have also well-established DJ’s in the pocket, “La crème de la crème” like Steve Lawler, Deep Dish, Audiofly…!
2006 - Last but not least – the time for Nukem has come to start his own record-label. Therefore he built up a relationship with dj Gogo (owner of Musiq Records). The label is named ‘Super Yellow Recordings’ (distributed by Intergroove, UK) and this goes for innovative, uplifting, filthy groove and dirty sounds like tech-house, electro-house and minimal, ready for the first release in March. For the label launching, what better that WMC in Miami. Together with Zenith Ibiza & club Q will born the label in an exclusive Super Yellow night at Rok Bar in ocean drive.
After 6 – 9 month break from studio, Nukem used this time to built with Gogo, a new studio and this year he will be back with a lot new releases and collaborations…,has to follow!
The life of dj Nukem is like the last sentence of a successful movie….
…. to be continued!!
