Whilst soaking up the myriad of bands that flowed through Newcastle’s legendary venue ‘The Riverside’ in the 90's, Mr Robot discovered a love for the electronic beats and twisted melodies that were thrown into the mix. Soon he gravitated to the heady world that is Shindig, where Dj's Scott Bradford, Scooby and mark Armstrong would spin a devastating mix of House, accompanied by a diverse range of guests from David Holmes to Deep Dish.
After some serious head scratching in his home studio, the forward thinking sound of Dark Room Robot was born. Blending a sound of bass-heavy technical beats aimed for both head and feet. DRR draws on Mr Robot's vast range of influences; a little bit of funk, a little bass, a little treble to slap ya face, early Clinton, Davis, Tony Allen and Kuti, Dinosaur Jr., Pure Science, Terry Francis, The Clash and the list goes on. DRR wont be pigeon holed, but if his style had to be tagged it would be fall somewhere in the realms deep tech house.
