despo first began his clubbing career at the tender age of fifteen where he would spend saturdays lying to loved ones and getting smuggled into the shindig via sixth form girls at school, during the 'members only' early years - when it was then housed at the legendary riverside venue in Newcastle. There he discovered the dual pleasures of attractive girls dancing to garage, deep house and dance classics of the time as well as the druggier, balding dominated techno of upstairs…dj's like Jon Acuaviva, Christian Vogel, Luke Slater and a fledgling Richie Hawtin had a huge early influence, but never detracted from the more musical, vocal house laid out by The Fathers of Sound, Sandy Rivera or ever present residents Scott Bradford & Scooby… Who would go on to sell him endless dubby 12's from behind the then flying, Flyin Records.
