Already when he was a little boy Gabriel Ananda was into music. Gabriel had his first serious encounter with music during a fever rush, listening to Classical music which made him notice the relativity of things for the first time. That happened at the age of 8 years.

His somewhat involuntary cello instruction did not avail but his passion for music found its ways when he was 16 and played songs of Nirvana on his guitar. However his dream of becoming an international rockstar did not come true. But there also was this passion for minimal music à la Steve Reich and the fascination for electronic sounds.

Thus he went on his journey to find his vision of music, which he couldn't find for two years until he was priviledged to experience a premium DJ-Set by Sven Vaeth in 1995. This was his crucial experience and Gabriel Ananda began experimenting in electronic sounds. Two years later he had his first release on the German Label Hörspielmusik followed by now over twenty 12" releases on imprints like Trapez, Utils, Substatic, Treibstoff and last but not least Karmarouge Records.

Refreshingly different from the common Techno mainstream Gabriel Ananda breaks hearing-habbits using well dosed deep structured sounds. Connoisseur of the uncommon enjoy his straight and fiddly cool beats. Definitions become useless if Techno, House and Dub merge together like in Gabriel Anandas productions. "Acoustic elements give a personal note to my electronic music". This guy knows how to electrify the partycrowd with his live sets and how to pull them into his spell. There are no stylistic boundaries for Gabriel Ananda, except his own versatile musical taste.

As the support live and dj act of the Jeff Samuel tour in Spring 2004, Gabriel Ananda introduced himself to an international audience. Thereafter he recently hit the jackpot by placing his release 'Süssholz' as No.1 in the german DJ-charts of the Groove Magazine and making it into the playlists of just about every DJ in 2004. Thus made him one the rising stars from the well known cologne minimal house scene and a high frequently booked dj and live artist, now playing in clubs all over europe.

Gabriel Ananda verspürte schon in jungen Jahren eine Affinität zur Musik. Sein erstes großes musikalisches Erlebnis hatte er während eines Fieberflashs bei klassischer Musik, bei dem ihm zum ersten mal die Relativität der Dinge auffiel. Das geschah im Alter von 8 Jahren.

Sein etwas unfreiwilliger Cellounterricht fruchtete nicht, dafür fand seine Leidenschaft für die Musik mit 16 Jahren zum ersten mal ihren Ausdruck, als er auf seiner Gitarre zu Nirvana bangte. Der Traum vom Welterfolg als Gitarrist blieb jedoch nur ein Traum. Aber da war ja auch schon die ganze Zeit diese Leidenschaft für Minimalmusik à la Steve Reich und die Faszination für elektronische Klänge.

So machte er sich auf die Suche nach seiner Vision von Musik, die Gabriel Ananda zwei Jahre lang auf keiner Elektronikparty fand, bis er 1995 ein Sven Väth-Set der Meisterklasse erleben durfte. Damit war der Groschen gefallen und Gabriel Ananda begann mit elektronischen Klängen zu experimentieren. Zwei Jahre später hatte er sein erstes Release auf dem Kasselaner Label Hörspielmusik, traf Alex Multhaup und gründete mit Ihm Karmarouge Records.

Akustische Elemente geben Gabriel Anandas Musik einen individuellen und sehr persönlichen Charakter. Fernab der gängigen Techno-Schemata durchbricht Gabriel Ananda hier mit wirksam verabreichten Akustik-Dosen und in sich verschachtelten Klangstrukturen die gelernten Hörgewohnheiten. Kenner des Außergewöhnlichen erfreuen sich über abwechselnd straighte und dann wieder frickelig-unterkühlte Beats.

Mit seinen Live-Sets versteht er es immer wieder sein Publikum zu elektrisieren und in seinen Bann zu ziehen. Stilistisch gibt es für Gabriel Ananda keine Grenzen, außer dem eigenen Geschmack und der ist vielseitig. Definitionen werden unbrauchbar, wenn Techno, House und Dub so eng zusammen kuscheln wie bei Gabriel Anandas Produktionen und Performances.

Als Support-Act der Jeff Samuel Tour im Frühjahr konnte sich Gabriel Ananda erstmal auch einem internationalen Publikum präsentieren. Mit über 20 Veröffentlichungen auf renommierten Labels wie Substatic, Trapez, Treibstoff, Festplatten und natürlich Karmarouge und dank seiner ’Süssholz’-EP, einer der Sommerhits dieses Jahres und Nr.1 in den Groove-Charts im August 2004, ist es ihm gelungen eine grosse Fangemeinde zu gewinnen. Seitdem ist er auch international ein gern gebuchter Act.
