Groove Armada
Sailing the good ship of funk : There’s no point you trying to be cool. Groove Armada, also known as Tom Findlay and Andy Cato, are some of the funkiest funkateers on the block Sounds cool : It is, their mix of soulful vibes and beats have got the kids out there on the dancefloor shakin’ that ass…which also happens to be the title of one of their finest releases. But there’s some chillage going on too.

‘At The River’ has become something of a comedown classic. Its sleazy trombone (blown by Mr. Cato himself) and soothing synths ease the pan All back to theirs then? I’m sure the post club selection would be of an exceedingly high standard. They spin at London’s premier league nightspot Fabric on a regular basis mixing up house and funky grooves to a delighted crowd. The name ‘Groove Armada’ was taken from a cheesy 70s disco night in Newcastle, fact fans Can’t beat a bit of trivia : Here’s some more. They hole themselves up in a cottage in Ambleside to record, getting out of the rat race in the big smoke. And they’ve got big chickens the size of people that eat sheep That’s trivial: Their second album ‘Vertigo’ has sold bucketloads hitting the Top 20, and hasn’t been doing too bad in the States either. Goddammit, they’re even remixing Madonna these days. Their live performance is nothing short of a rumpshakin’ groovathon. I challenge you not to shake it uncontrollably. Betcha can’t OK, so they got the funk, I get you: Darn tootin’ Most likely to: Polish their brand of funk to a fine sheen and display it proudly on the mantelpiece Least likely to: Make the often difficult transition to the dog-eat-dog country and western circuit Not to be confused with: The Spanish Armada, The Groove Collective
