Hacksaw is the recording alias for TC Monckton and Paul Johan who are two dudes with a plan. If they had a mission statement it would read "...to combine massive baselines with huge beats and catchy melodies all in a mangled style to cause maximum dance floor mayhem".
2009 has already seen them release their finest track to date with the sun baked Ibiza beach sound of "The Dawn". This sure fire future anthem sees them marrying a tough rhythm section with classic lead tones and lush string pads. Remixes come from industry legend Justin Robertson and aclaimed Leeds production duo Click & Zoom. If there was ever any doubt of the true potential "The Dawn" has then you only have to take a look at the roll of ‘A' list DJs giving their support which reads like a who's who and includes Sasha, Groove Armada, Way Out West, General Midi, Anne Savage... to name a few. Couple that with plays on Saturday Night Kiss three weeks in a row and a debut entry into number 19 in the Cool Cuts Chart and you have a serious contender for a Summer 2009 anthem!
"Uber" sees Hacksaw dive into a darker side of electronica with its twisted broken beats, sick bass line and never ending rising tech noises. Through his residency at Wax:On, TC Monckton has been able to give this little number a true road testing where its impact has always brought cheers from the loyal crowd. Since its first play, and as the ultimate tune in his sets for the past few months, every guest has requested a copy of "Uber". So we can only assume that 2 Many DJs, Doorly et al are spreading the word around the more discerning global dance floors.
"The Dawn" and "Uber" typify TC Monckton's futuristic DJing style which embodies an enviable grasp of what's hot on white label combined with recognisable vintage techno, Bristol and house sounds. Its this unique style of blending beats that has seen him play, not only his long running Wax:On residency, but also venues which will make any would be or established DJ envious. In fact his guest spot at the legendary ‘We Love' night at Space in Ibiza is still talked about by those who were lucky enough to be there.
This year promises to see Hacksaw become a dance floor name with 'The Dawn' set to be released in the early summer on the exciting new Forbidden Fruit Recordings imprint with 'Uber' following up in September.
