
In 1982 Julian Perez was born in Valencia, Spain where he developed a love for electronic music in the early 90's. Influenced by the old school house grooves, he shaped his style with Imports from Detroit, San Francisco and Chicago. At 16, Julian started DJing as a hobby for friends and credits records by MK, Todd Terry, Carl Craig, Paul Johnson, DJ Sneak and deeper sounds like Kevin Yost, Kerry Chandler, Frank Roger, Jay-J as defining his style at this time. It was also in his youth where he first stepped into the clubbing scene and started playing smaller clubs in his hometown, where he lived until 2005.
2006 lead Julian to the White Isle of dance and music - Ibiza. His sound shifted to newer deep, minimal techno and he was asked to play at various private parties across Ibiza. His fresh & elegant style quickly created an interest and he was approached by promoters from London and Ibiza who offered him an opportunity to play at Pacha Hotel, a residency at 'Heaven' Ibiza and the Sexy & Chic parties with Salvation in 2007. That same year, Julian traveled to new shores in Argentina, Punta del Este, Montevideo in Uruguay and Brazil, where he played in various clubs gaining new contacts for future seasons.
2008 took Julian to Miami for few months, where he made valuable contacts with promoters from Spain, Brighton and Miami. He hooked up with "Ibiza Vice Miami" and played at their hotel pool party events in South Beach every Sunday afternoon at places such as Marseilles, Surfcomber and Catalina. During Winter Music Conference of 2008, he was asked to play at Nocturnal, Gem and Indra. The "IbizaVice" parties then traveled to Costa Rica and Panama.
Returning back to Ibiza, Julian started to DJ at the un-official Cocoon, Circoloco and Monza after parties every week taking place on private boats and villas. With a solid recognition on the Island built over the years, Julian was invited to play at various clubs in Ibiza such as Lola´s, Blue Marlin, Ushuaia, Grial, Blu Ibiza, Es Vive Hotel, Delano Beach, Sol D'en Serra throughout the summer. The winter season in January 2009 took Julian to Brazil for parties in Florianopolis, Balneario Camboriú, Sao Paulo, Maresias and Angra Dos Reis. It was also this year that Julian became a resident of La Plage (Nikki Beach Group), the "secret" parties at Somni Club and continued playing various private boat and villa parties around Ibiza.
2010 has been a milestone year for Julian, having played in clubs in the Canary Islands, Valencia, Benidorm, Barcelona, London, Miami WMC and New York. His debut track by the Canary Islands-based label Lowpitch Records, got to be in the deep house Beatport Top 100 in the first week of its release.
In a recent interview, Matt Tolfrey, the London-based head of Leftroom Records listed Visionquest, Julian Perez as artist who is really inspiring him at the moment with the music he's producing and playing.
Julian is the first spanish producer who has signed a contract with labels such as Matt Tolfrey's UK-based Leftroom Records, South Italia's Recycle Records and Frankfurt based Two.Birds Records, with several released productions out on these labels. On the Spain-based Lowpitch Records he is gonna be released an EP with more than great feedbacks. Julian is without a doubt an artist to keep an eye on. Artists such as Loco Dice, Mathias Kaden, Livio & Roby.. Were playing his unreleased tracks by these labels throughout the year. His last 2010 releases on these labels have been supported by artists such as Richie Hawtin, Marco Carola, Paco Osuna, Raresh, DJ Sneak, Bill Patrik, Dyed Soundorom, Alexi Delano, Luciano, Dubfire, Shaun Reeves, Robert Dietz, Alex Flatner, DJ W!ld, Jacuzzy Boys, Lauhaus, Chris Wood, Andrew Grant, Varoslav, Mirco Violi.. To name a few.
Julian has built a solid reputation around the world, building a solid following of fans with his elegantly moving and absorbing groovy style,. His sound now goes well beyond electronic deep and old school house grooves bridging with funky minimal techno that has continuously provided a soundtrack for some of the worlds best party experiences.
