Sheffield based duo Kassien, are James Maplebeck and Mark Reed. The pair met by chance some 7 years ago and discovered they had a mutual passion and love for electronic music. Both were already quite well established DJs in their own right, and in 2005 they began to promote themselves under the guise Kassien.

In the relatively short time they have been performing, bookings and interest have come from promoters both locally and as far a field as China. Their night Cargo has become synonymous with underground house music enthusiasts in South Yorkshire and with a solid fan base behind them they have teamed up with fellow Sheffield based night ‘Grounded’ who have been responsible for bringing in acts such as Loco Dice, Dave Clark, Danny Howells, Claude Von Stroke and Laurent Garnier to name but a few. Cargo have also hosted nights with some of the North’s best nights such as Urban Gorilla, TW_TS & Technique.

Both Kassien and Cargo’s success has not gone unnoticed by fellow promoters, they were recently picked up by Yousef’s much lauded night Circus and added to the roster of residents for the ‘Circus Tour’ dates. Last year also saw the boys debut in Ibiza for the well established ‘Hustle’ events.

Notable guest appearances alongside Jesse Rose, Yousef , Justin Long, Will Saul, Chris Finke, Click Box, Richard H Kirk (Cabaret Voltaire), Stel Alexander and Dean Muhsin (Bearweasel) to name but a few have only added to the reputation this boys have started to build.

In today's competitive local DJ circuit, Kassien have firmly established themselves as Sheffield’s finest minimal/tech house act. Their sets are full of surprises and as a DJ duo, they blend the personalities and skills of 2 different people into 1 sound, which is always delivered with breathtaking maturity and accuracy!!!
