KLEEP is the new techno project from Finnish-born Sami Liuski. Sami is already a well-known artist as Bangkok Impact and Putsch '79, probably his most popular aliases, and has also run several side projects such as e.g. Lolita Strap, 8-Bit Rockers, Omni Incentive. This multi-monikered musician likes to play with his machines but also with names and mix people's minds, considering this as the essence of electronic music: the music itself is important, not who is behind it.
With so many different faces, Sami has lots of releases under his belt, mainly on the Dutch electrodisco labels Clone Records, Creme Organization/Bunker, Viewlexx and Klakson. This includes one Bangkok Impact album 'Traveller' released in 2003, the mega hit 'Junge Dame mit Freundliche Tel' and more recently 'Missionary on Mars' that is also used in the 2008 movie 'Linha de Passe' from Walter Salles (the same director made the Hollywood movie 'Dark Water') and one Putsch '79 album 'Putsch' released in 2004, together with his Finnish buddy Pauli Jylhänkangas. Alongside numerous EPs on the aforesaid Dutch labels, Sami has also various remixes and tracks appearing on Cocoon Recordings, Ministry of Sound, Get Physical, DFA Records etc.
Sami is playing live all over the world. During the last 12 months some highlights were Fabric (London), 5 Days Off Festival (Amsterdam), Panorama Bar (Berlin), The Loft (Barcelona), Yellow Submarine (Milan), The Edge (Sao Paolo, Brazil), and touring in Australia.
Bangkok Impact and subsidiary projects are about electro and disco sounds reflecting Sami's love to early disco and italo. As a child in frozen Lapland, Sami discovered the joys of music through friends and the radio. The first record he bought was Metallica's 'Ride The Lightning' and he began making tunes at the age of 12, composing songs on his Amiga 500 computer using tracker programs and sampled instruments. Since that time, Sami has always been open to new influences and on the look for fresh sounds with very extensive vision of electronic music with no boundaries, forging a very personal style.
It is therefore not surprising that, having moved to Berlin in January 2008 and exposed to more minimal and techno surroundings, Sami, besides working on his second Bangkok Impact album and some new EPs on Clone Records (La Musche EP out in July 2008) and remixes, comes up with some techno/house tunes but with his own touch. Yet Sami is not a new comer in the scene since he has released on Raum..musik (2002, 'Flamenco' EP) and on Traum Schallplatten compilation.
KLEEP is about efficient tracks for the floor with minimalistic basslines, freaky twisted melodies, out of this world crazy vocals, acid influenced percussion, and heavy kickdrums.
