Limaçon (lee-ma-son)
In the winter of 1997, Christopher T. Lee fell in love with his first synthesizer which would later turn into an orgy of knobs and faders. The first was a Nord Lead 1, the red beast, which twiddled and twisted its way into his heart. From listening to early Aphex Twin, Squarepusher, and U-Ziq, Chris' craft was geared more towards the abstract and exporation of analog sounds. Influenced by the 1999 rave scene and more mainstream artists such as Daft Punk, Ian Pooley, and Ritchie Hawtin, he couldn't deny his need for the beat and took his music to the dancefloor.
As the equipment started to dwarf him in his small home in Santa Cruz (California), live shows became less of a priority. The next step was studio production and the development of tracks as complete songs instead of live loop tweaks. Finally, in the spring of 2003 he invested in the turning tables and started building his vinyl collection. With his first purchase appropriately being The U.S. Tournament on Pokerflat Recordings. Inspired by Steve Bug's mixes on Paxahau, Chris' intrigue grew to the techy fringes of house music. Tracking down vinyl by Ren Breitbarth and Vincenzo became an utmost priority.
