The first-lady of Rio de Janeiro's house music scene, dj Mary Zander, spins a contagious mix of deep, funky, tech and electro house - always with precise technique and extreme elegance. She began to spin in 2000, without too much compromise, playing music in friends' parties and chill-out spaces. Charismatic, easy-going and very talented, the beautiful "Carioca" had a meteoric appearance in the Brazilian electronic music scene, rapidly gaining a prestigious position in an environment entwined with men. Mary Zander has performed in some of the most important music festivals in Brazil: Bavaria Vibe, Creamfields, Bunker-Rave, Phillips Expression, Skol Rio, Vivo Electronic Beats, Coca-Cola Vibezone, Recife Beats, Helvetia, among others. In 2005, she was invited to spin in Skol Beats, the largest electronic music festival in Latin America, for a crowd of about 20 thousand people. She then made her way to the end of the year with a fully booked agenda, culminating in her election as "Revelation DJ of the Year" in the Cool Magazine Awards and a nomination in the same category by DJ Sound. During 2006 Carnival, she did the warm-up for Fat Boy Slim and Layo & Bushwacka, in a party at Balneário Camburiú, for more then 15 thousand people. In the beginning of European summer of 2008, Mary represented Brazil at the Electronic Stage of Rock in Rio Lisboa, the largest music festival in Portugal, along with djs as Carl Cox, Tony Humphries, Dimitri from Paris, Axwell, 2 Many DJ's, Sasha & Digweed and Paul Van Dyk. She is currently a resident dj of Warung Club, elected by both Mixmag and DJ Mag as one of the best clubs in the world, where she's enjoyed memorable parties playing together with names such as Gui Boratto, Phonique, Paul Woolford, Layo & Bushwacka, 16 Bit Lollitas, Radio Slave, Rowan Blades and Nick Warren. Mary also plays on a monthly basis at Pacha Buenos Aires, one of the most intense Argentinean dance floors Mary's musical taste is welcome by all kinds of crowds, from the north to the south of Brazil. From smaller, more intimate clubs, such as 00 (RJ), Dama de Ferro (RJ), Trend (BSB), D-Edge (SP), Disco (SP), Royal (SP), Spin (POA), Eon (CTB), Vibe (CTB), Na Sala (MG), Joy (BH), Garage (CG), Tozen (CG); to the huge dance floors of Pacha, Warung, Sirena, Anzu and Privilege. From sponsored events for clients as Nokia, Absolut, Motorola, M. Chandon and Smirnoff; to fashion parties for brands like Mac, Loreal, Miss Sixty, Diesel, Replay, Osklen, Triton and Farm. With an increasingly international agenda, she has been invited to spin in parties and clubs in London, New York, Miami, Atlanta, Ibiza, Salzburg, Buenos Aires, Bariloche, Mendonza, Cordoba, Santiago, Asuncion and Montevideo, while she's a frequent guest at "Made in Brazil" party at Avalon, in Los Angeles.
