Electronic producer and dj mike mcguinness is NOVITAS. The live sets are unique using carefully coordinated technology as the vehicle to create and mix tech-house/techno/ progressive/minimal/tribal fusion. Mike was trained as musician at an early age from string to percussion instruments, coming from a family with strong musical ties, he performed in orchestra events at a young age with various instruments. This foundation, and the ability to travel extensively through his life has led to the development and appreciate of music from many cultures. Technology allowed Mike to put his ideas to sound that seemed more liberating than the decks and records he was using to DJ house and techno music. After DJng in the US and Europe as well as performing with live musicians in his sets in venues as DJ sets...... NOVITAS was born (it means new in Latin). NOVITAS is a continuum of a collaborative effort to fuse technology and traditional DJng and production to create unique live show and tracks. Mike has recently received positive feedback all over the globe from world-class DJs, producers and radio stations for his style and approach to Tech-House music. His tracks are being played by DJs such as Donald Glaude most recently at WMC in MIami, and many others. "Ableton Live is the core of my technology, it really opens up my ability to recreate many different sounds not possible with other live performance tools. Basically with the intention to produce live shows as much as possible with a stable platform." "So it's not dj'ng in the traditional sense, I don't use CD's or Vinyl at all anymore, but still keeping sound quality in the tracks and sounds I use. I just feel it's more about the music that comes out of the speakers for the crowd."
