"Our self-confessed slave to the funk has been making serious waves through out Europe this past year with his tru-school infectious funk. The Bang Records man likes to do it old-style and will be bringing his bag full of soul to show us how…" We Love… Space (Ibiza)
"If one word was needed to describe Mr.Doris it would be versatile" Rob Waller (Soundcrash)
"There aren't enough genres created yet to describe this wonderment of the disc jockey kind - to hear him is to love him..." Bang! Records
"We have been after this mans talents for a while now… we've finally tracked him down & got him in the country to play for us!" Zigfrids (London)
"An incredible selection of music..." Will Holland (Quantic)
A self confessed "Funk Fanatic", Producer / DJ Cris Doros (Mr Doris or just Doris to his friends) plays & produces everything from bootylicious breaks, nu skool and dance floor jazz to broken beat and afro funk taking in everything in between with a splashing of hip hop thrown in for good measure... he has been pleasuring the dance floors and lounges with his solid soulful sounds for the last 7 years now... playing in such prestigious venues as The Royal Albert Hall, Fabric, KoKo, The End, Ministry, Turnmills & Cargo (London), Pacha, Space & Manumission (Ibiza) to smaller more intimate venues such as Herbal (London), La Fee Verte (Lyon, France), Oceania (Thessaloniki, Greece) and Blue Marlin (Ibiza).
He has had the honour of playing alongside and supporting acts and djs such as Gilles Peterson, Fatboy Slim, The Herbaliser, Coldcut, Mos Def, Roots Manuva, Krafty Kuts & A Skills, The Hot 8 Brass Band, The James Taylor Quartet, Jon Sa Trinxa, Alfredo, Cash Money, Breakin Bread, DJ Food, The Cinematic Orchestra, Bent, Vadim, Rob Da Bank, The Dub Pistols, The Scratch Perverts, DJ Krush, DJ Kentaro, Ali B, Boca45, Bonobo, Rodney P, Nostalgia77, Hot Chip, DJ Yoda, Uffie, Goldie Looking Chain, Caged Baby, Killa Kela, Max Sedgley, The Quantic Soul Orchestra and Afrika Bambaataa to name but a few!
Djing from world renowned 'super clubs' such as Fabric & Space to beach bars such as Sa Trinxa & Mambo (Ibiza) through Jazz Cellars in Manhattan to yacht parties in the middle of the Meditteranean, Mr Doris is lucky enough to have the capacity (and the record collection) to evolve his sound to the needs of the dance floor and the chill out crowd… whether it be a smooth latin or a liquid drum & bass section he has the ability to glide faultlessly through genres that all have that classic jazz-funk undertone that leaves the people dancing with a smile upon their face.
Recently joining the crew of London based BANG! Records, his production is very similar to his DJing... no compartmentalised style but all with a jazz / funk feel... His productions have already been used by the likes of Cutty Sark Whiskey for their International web, marketing & advertising campaigns and he is currently finishing off the first production E.P - Gracias Senor - that takes in musical styles ranging from hip hop, nu jazz and funk through to afro beats... expect his first releases to be in a record box near you...
The last 3 years have been the busiest yet for Doris with him being in demand right across England and Europe. Splitting his time between England & Ibiza, he secured a residency with Manumission (Ibiza, 2005) in their world famous (and debaucherous) Tantric Toilets. For the last 2 years he has gone even further, securing residencies with Pacha, Ibiza (Global Room & Chill Out Terraza), Space for We Love & Carl Cox, Blue Marlin & Es Vive amongst playing at several other venues all over the island including L'Elephant, & Aura.
2006/07 also saw him playing at such festivals as Lake Of Stars (Malawi, Africa), The Secret Garden (England), Nuits Sonores (France) and the Sonar Festival (Barcelona). Also now a regular on the Corporate Scene - Playing for The Smirnoff Electric Cabaret, My Mother Is Japanese, Cutty Sark Whiskey, Moét & Chandon & Southern Comfort SoCo.
2008 looks set to be an even more hectic year for Doris as his night The Social (with The Baker Brothers' Chris Pedley) kicks up a storm on the international funk scene (with nods from Gilles Peterson on BBC Radio1, Craig Charles on BBC Radio6 and Mark Lamarr on BBC Radio2 as well as local & national press coverage). His monthly residencies continue at Break da House (Bournemouth), 93 Feet East , Cargo & Scala (London) & Mayura (Barcelona). Guest spots all over Europe at such venues and nights as The Royal Albert Hall, The End, Le Batofar (Paris), The Sunday Joint (BCN), Herbal, The Rhythm Factory, KoKo & Fabric. While his dj touring will take him all over the world including Ireland, Spain, France, Holland, Malta, Dubai, Goa and Australia. As well as returning to his 2008 summer residencies in Ibiza. He is also available for Weddings & Bahmitzvas...
