Few DJs and producers can claim as much diversity as Nick Riley and Andi Durrant… Best known as 2 of the UK’s favourite and musically diverse DJs, defying genres and resisting the usual rules of electronic music. They are producers, players and presenters, reaching over half a million people a week on their massively popular radio shows and pulling in crowds of thousands to their events and parties.
Playing and making a concoction of house, techno, electro, progressive and melodic, their tracks are being supported by a wide cross section of DJs – from underground legends Laurent Garnier and Sander Klienenberg to trance superstars Armin and Tiesto, to house hero’s like Pete Tong. They also produce music for television and film. In 2008 Riley & Durrant remixed international chart hits from Mark Brown (“The Journey” – UK no. 11), the Cube Guys club smash “Baba O’Riley”, alongside a stack of more underground club focussed records which have seen the boys among the top of the Beatport download charts. As the summer 2009 season gets under way, the boys have already remixed 6 tracks for independent and major labels, including the new single from the Utah Saints, Just Jack and Blue Pearl and found their way into sets by DJs like Krafty Kuts, Micky Slim, Dave Spoon and many more.
Between them they present 2 of the Galaxy Networks flagship specialist dance programs, including Andi Durant’s Saturday Warmup (now the biggest and most listened to Saturday radio show in the UK) and their cutting-edge Friday night showcase for the underground, unsigned and unheard. This year Andi was also awarded his third prestigious Sony Award and joining the ranks of previous winners Zane Lowe and Colin Murray as Music Broadcaster of the Year.
GIGS & LIVE SETS:
This year the boys made their first entry into the prestigious DJ Mag Top 150 and were voted as Britain’s No. 6 in the Datatransmission UK DJ Poll, alongside Errol Alkin, Sasha, Digweed and James Zabeila.
For the entire 2008 season Riley & Durrant were part of the biggest and busiest night in Ibiza when they were asked to be weekly residents at Privilege to provide the sound of the second room at Tiesto’s sell-out concerts. In 2009 they return as weekly residents at the Worlds Biggest Club and continue to provide an alternative eclectic sound to the night.
As co-owners and promoters of the massive Electrik Playground club nights, Riley & Durrant have been touring across Europe with a regular party at the infamous Ministry of Sound in London, Privilege Ibiza and one off events at clubs and arenas around the UK.
No strangers to some of the world’s biggest parties and festivals, Riley & Durrant have rocked the main stages of Creamfields, Gatecrashers Summer Sound System, Godskitchen’s Global Gathering and Fort Dance in St Petersberg, alongside arenas and stadiums across the UK, Russia, Asia and America.
