Few producers of recent years have exploded onto the underground house scene like Hot Creations’ Russ Yallop. While some producers spend years finding their feet, Russ made a clear statement of intent with ‘I Can’t Wait’ his debut release on Crosstown Rebels, a solid cut of nu-school house that was charted across the board by everyone from Jamie Jones to MANDY and was featured by Heidi on her ‘In New Music We Trust’ show on BBC Radio One. Meanwhile, ‘Rock Me’ on the B-side was picked up by DJ Mag and featured on their ‘Best of British’ covermount compilation at the start of this year. Russ has also released on Jamie Jones and Lee Foss’ Hot Creations, Steve Lawler’s VIVa Music and Art Department’s No.19.
Long-time friend and fully-fledged member of Crosstown Rebels, Russ Yallop has been biding his time, honing his production skills for the last few years. Part of a new breed of DJs, with studio skills to match, which includes his close friends Lee Foss, Richy Ahmed and Jamie Jones, Russ Yallop’s sound is infected with warm charm and boundless energy. Fusing fun into dance music again, Russ and his UK-based peers are creating a new strain of house music that has become the standard by which other outfits compare themselves too: whether it be through his residency at Paradise at Dc-10, or the depth and quality of his productions.
In 2015, Russ is releasing an EP on Santé’s AVOTRE imprint, and has already remixed Sidney Charles & Santé for Hot Creations. VIVa, Hot Since 82’s label Knee Deep In Sound and Material also have upcoming tracks from Russ ready to be released. In early 2016 he will release his first LP, as part of AVOTRE’s House Lessons series, which will give him the platform to broaden his scope and explore the confines of his sound. With a US and Asian tour looming, there is no stopping Russ Yallop!
