As a live act, Tensnake followed red-hot 2011 live shows at Glastonbury, Bestival, Melt, Flow & We Love @ Space, Ibiza with more live action, new music and remixes in 2012. After taking on Miami for the first time (playing alongside Annie Mac, Simian Mobile Disco and with special guest stars Little Dragon), Marco returned to Europe, meeting his hero Nile Rodgers in Manchester and headlining Berlin’s Panorama Bar – and that’s before the summer even kicked off. He returns to London for a sold-out live show for Innervisions in October and has been confirmed for the prestigious Warehouse Project in Manchester on New Year’s Eve.
In Ibiza, there’s one key difference twelve months on: this season, the shows are bigger, bolder and more wide-reaching, taking in Ushuaia with Sasha and DJ Sneak, Defected at Pacha with fellow Hamburg house producer Solomun and at Amnesia with Tinie Tempah, Skrillex and the ever-Friendly Fires. He’s been busy remixing the A-List too, with Lana Del Rey, Friendly Fires and Little Dragon among the acts he’s mixed in the past 12 months.
At the start of November, Defected Records will release his biggest pop moment since ‘Coma Cat’ – the irresistible ‘Mainline’ featuring 19 year-old soul sensation Syron, a positive re-imagining of the glory days of house music. And then of course, there’s the Tensnake debut album which is due to drop in the first quarter of 2013 with some special guests so exciting we wouldn’t dare to reveal before the time is right. Make no mistake: as the Chinese horoscope dictates, 2013 is The Year Of The Snake.
