Yoon is the electronic music duo from Bucharest, formed by Ionut Moraru and Victor Mihailescu. Their musical philosophy is based on the pleasure of combining analog and digital with organic, acoustic elements.
When they met, Victor was a fresh graduate of Alchemea College in London and had already released techno and house tracks, under the moniker Victor M, and a chillout album as Alternati-V. Ionut had composed some tracks that were the starting point for Yoon. The different musical backgrounds of the two worked as an advantage in discovering and defining Yoon's musical direction, with artists like Apparat, Morcheeba, Jon Hopkins, Massive Attack, Moderat, Telefon Tel Aviv, Royksopp, Erykah Badu and Portishead as main influences.
The composer-producer relation works very well for the two and the two-years work has offered many rewarding results: their first ep, which features vocalist and lyricist Yanka, is ready; they have released a video for the track , and their single 'Nur' reached no. 4 on Romanian alternative charts. In October 2012 they have released the single 'Boundaries', the first studio track with Ionut's vocals.
In 2012 Yoon has played as an opening act for Apparat Live and Armin van Buuren, with the full band set-up which includes vocals, drums, electric guitar, percussions, piano, keyboards and bass. They have also shared the stage with artists like Parov Stelar, Chicane, Slow Magic and Selebrities.
