Urban tropical, the sound of Coco Machete Records is inspired by the cities and the islands. The label itself is inspired by the need for dance music labels to take some overdue risks, go down that other path so thick with foliage you better keep the machete sharp. The sounds of disco, hip hop, punk rock, reggae and soul have built the foundations, now let's rock the house. The Coco Machete sound is spearheaded by Sean Holland. His involvement in other labels such as Central Park Recordings, Fair Park Recordings and Wax On/Wax Off Records has fused with the influence of the tropics, leading to this new venture. Michael Davis, also rooted in Central Park Recordings is heading up all of the visual aspects of the label. Now knowing the roots and knowing a bit about those involved keep your ears peeled on the dance floor. Listen up for that percussive sound of the machete cracking the coconut. Get ready for that one song that jumps up and out of the sound system with that tropical bass and urban melody. Expect no formula, just the bug out sound ready for the dance.
