Coincidence Records (and sublabel Forteana) is a record label founded in 2006 by Didier (PsyTox, Norman Bates) and Wouter (Edward Molton), focussed on getting music out there from unknown and less known artists that deserve to be known. A keen ear and an open mind has gained Coincidence access to the record bags and support of reknowned artists such as Laurent Garnier, Dave Clarke, Gregor Tresher, Hell, Richie Hawtin, Marco Carola, Hernan Cattaneo, Laura Heath, Tampopo, Guy Gerber, SiS and many other known and unknown dj's. Now having released over 20 ep's, the label features music from artists such as EC50, Tom Dazing, Soul Phonic, Cook-e & Matik, JetSetHifi, Charles T. Light House, Tom Hades, Pierre, Chaim, Deep'a & Vek, Brandon Invergo, SERi, Benn Lian, Tek, Valyom, Mua, PsyTox and The Office, coming from countries like Belgium, Japan, Netherlands, UK, Colombia, Israel, Italy, USA,... Besides being a label, we also have regular label nights and we also pride ourselves in offering our artists advice and help in legal matters, copyright, booking contracts, publishing deals... Which probably explains why artists continue to work with us despite of the little money there is in music these days and the fact that we cannot offer them massive fees. Instead, we make it up with promoting them the best we can in every way we can. This two-way enthousiasm has certainly made Coincidence more of a collective of like minded spirits and enthousiasts. The philosophy Don't worry, we're not going to bore you with fluffy promo babble which you usually get from labels trying to describe why they are different - we simply want to release the stuff we like. We pride ourselves in putting our artists and their creativity first, and try to give them all the attention and work we can give them in return. Coincidence Records doesn't focus on one style: we are pretty proud of thinking outside the box and not confining ourselves to the current style in fashion. Anything that is exciting, dancefloor oriented and simply good deserves to be released and we hope to able to give our artists just that: a chance to get their music out there! Thats also why we try to listen to all demo's as soon as we get them, and we don't wait two years to release them: what's the point in making contemporairy music if you should wait for the label to release them when the artist's taste has already evolved... Anyway, we are always interested in new demos and we play them out regularly to test what works on a defenceless dancefloor crowd. Expect a lot of fresh tunes in the time to come, from artists which all are exceptional in their respective styles. If you're not on the edge, you're taking up too much space. D. & W.
