What’s this?
A minimal house/techno label
Not another one! Where is this one from? Germany?
No. London.
Oh really? When was it founded?
2007. Where have you been?
By who?
Italian dj/producer Achille Soardi aka Kende founded the label with a sassy sidekick named Jackie Misfit.
An Italian minimalist starting a label in London! Why?
To incorporate the underground techno vibes of London with Italian-influenced electronic sensibilities and the current stripped down grooves of European minimal house to create a unique sexy sound. Also to get more chicks!
Ok. So what releases have they done?
Good question.
Lokomotiv’s first release ‘Crisis EP’ in 2007 introduced this distinctive sound with 3 tracks from Kende featuring spacey sounds influenced by Giorgio Gigli (Electronica Romana Records) while still maintaining true minimal techno structures.
In 2008, Lokomotiv’s second release featured 2 tracks, “Anima Yulm” (Alex Bau Remix) which was originally produced by Kende and on the B side “Concuidado” by Suso Flores.
The third release also from 2008 entitled “The Dark Side of the Spoon EP” features the original title track by Kende on the A side. On the flip is a remix by Bodycode of the track “The Krkr Mountain” originally written by Kende and a B2 track called “Mama Cocha” from Jackie Misfit.
Sounds cool but why should I care?
Well not only has Lokomotiv and its founder collaborated with respected international producers such as Alex Bau (Credo Records), Bodycode (Spectral Sound), Valentino Kanzyani (Jesus Loved You, Recycled Loops), Suso Flores (We are, Blurred Vision), Mauro Alpha (Boxer Sport Records, Tenax), Andrea Paganin, Marco Solforetti (Tenax Recordings) but Lokomotiv 003 was played to death by Craig Richards, Ian F andValentino Kanzyani. Lokomotiv 004 is out soon! You should especially care as there are some killer remixes featured on this one.
Go on…
Jackie Misfit’s “Mama Cocha” gets the remix treatment three times by Bypass FX, Mauro Alpha & Andrea Paganin and Valentino Kanzyani & Tomy DeClerque to create Lokomotiv’s sexiest release to date.
Hallelujah! Where can I listen to it and find out more?
