Established by Selway and BPMF back in 1995, Serotonin Records brings an eclectic fusion of electro styles, from experimental electronica to synth-pop. In 1999, Serotonin Records released their final output - which happened to be the very first official release by Fischerspooner before they moved on to great international acclaim. Serotonin was their introduction into the dance music world. One might think that the label would have grown only larger and more successful from this particular high point in it’s history - but life is uncertain and circumstances unforeseeable.
Label founders John Selway and Jason Szostek became drawn away in different directions and the label ceased. Recently however, along with bill youngman, they decided to bring back the imprint, re-releasing or remixing old material, digging up their own unreleased productions and producing new material bridging the gap between their early styles and what they create individually now. They also began to look around for new artists that complimented the amorphous Serotonin sound.
The re-launch of Serotonin in 2008 began with the release of two new artists, Laser Boy and Espion, on SER018. The release featured a balance of the styles representing the current sound of Serotonin. Dark futuristic electro, experimental acidic breaks, chilled out melodic synth pop, italo disco… These styles and more fit the updated label concept - an eclectic, alternative variety of high quality, musical electro-influenced dance music. The next releases upcoming on Serotonin for 2010 continue to span this eclectic spectrum.
