Ten years of Terminal M means ten years of friends and family; of discovering the unknown and sharing it with the world, traveling from city to city and professing our love affair with the dancefloor.
"I chose the name Terminal M, because to me, an airport means you can fly everywhere, to any destination. Like an airport, our music can take you everywhere, but it's always dancefloor oriented! Flying, means quickly reaching your destination. In a way that was what I had in mind with my label. Right away, you should dance to the sound! As a DJ I am always open minded for different styles in the electronic music, and that is what I wanted to present on my label, too." -Monika Kruse
2010 sees the dawning of a new chapter in a label that has without a doubt helped to shape techno history. The label ethos of Terminal M, the concept of exploring the wide spectrums of electronic music, are rooted firmly in the world class DJ career of it's label boss, the great Dame of Techno, Monika Kruse. Acting as tastemaker, Monika has crafted the Terminal M catalog by an instinct learned through 20 years of spinning records every weekend in every major club and festival around the world. In a way, you could say that the label output of Terminal M tells the story of the last 10 years in techno.
In the beginning Terminal M was called home by Patrick Lindsey, alias Voodooamt, (who also produced together with Kruse, and with Stanny Franssen as The Bad Pimps) favored for his groovy and functional sound, always served with a heavy dose of funk, and not to mention his and high energy live sets; there was Gregor Tresher, Kruse's long term production partner and friend, and true Techno Champion -revered for his unique modernist approach to dance music. Eric Sneo was also an important part of the early Terminal M family, renowned for his uncompromising pounding brand of futurist techno, funneled through his University-trained musical skill. French techno vixen Miss Kitten, G-Man (who began his career as part of LFO), Martin Stimming, Berghain's Len Faki aka Lamonde and Chicago's own DJ Rush are all apart of the Terminal M catalog -along with a lot of other great artists and, of course, Monika Kruse, who's first solo artist album Changes of Perception was released on Terminal M in 2008, and enlisted Marek Hemann, Mark Broom, 2000 and One, Hearthrob and Sammy Goossens among others, as remixers -all fantastic Producers, highly respected by Kruse, and all with unique styles that they gladly contributed to Terminal M's repertoire.
While the above mentioned Terminal M artists are still headlining the most respected venues around the world today, the next generation of talent are coming up fast through the ranks: northern Italy's minimal bass master Luca Morris, Zurich's techno maven Manon, Nuernburg via Istanbul's Erman Erim (awarded 'Best Newcomer' & 'Best Live Act' in Raveline and Groove Magazines) along with Frankfurt's groove master Broombeck, Hamburg minimal tech darlings Kaiserdisco, and more -to be revealed on the 10 Years of Terminal M compilation.
To celebrate ten years of discovering and shaping techno as it is today, Terminal M is proud to announce a series of Anniversary edition releases, and the official 10 Years of Terminal M label tour featuring a lot of artists of the label. The tour dates, which include Wire Festival in Japan and a label showcase at Berghain, will be the perfect opportunity to experience Terminal M's dancefloor vision along, and the mission to share the freshest and most expressive sounds in electronic music through euphoric club experiences.
