Ware history:
WARE Records was founded by Mathias Schaffhäuser in 1997. The label’s musical orientation is open, most important being originality, abstraction and contemporary relevance.
WARE has released 78 EPs and 17 albums (as of march 2009), by Ziggy Kinder, Markus Güntner, And.id, Benjamin Brunn, Mud Max (feat. Mr. Statik), Jin Choi, Novox, Hans Nieswandt, Dominik Eulberg, Decomposed Subsonic and many more. Remixes for Ware were produced by the Gebr. Teichmann, by Trentemøller, Dapayk, GummiHz, Alex Smoke, Swayzak, Jeremy P. Caulfild, Audio Werner and many others.
WARE’s focus on time relevance means that all music released on the label should somehow refer to the present. Schaffhäuser is no fan of retro trends and epigonisms, neither as label owner, musician nor as DJ.
The latest WARE release was Mathias’ 8th solo album called "Unequal Equality" featuring collaborations between him and various artists, all of which came about in 2008, including Ware acts like Benjamin Brunn, And.id, Markus Güntner and Ziggy Kinder, Schaffhäuser’s long time hero Alex Smoke, but also new ones such as Lucy and Xhin from Singapore (both with releases on Meerestief Rec.). That’s what the experts say:
