please find details of the ‘Dancers’ launch party at Basing House on Thursday 24th October to celebrate the exciting and much anticipated long player from Tim Paris. The ‘Dancers LP’ coming out on my Favorite Robot on Oct 28th. To celebrate the launch Tim will be playing an extended 3 hour set and to make the evening just a little bit more special Tim has invited good friend Chloe’ (Throne of Blood/ Kill the Dj) from Paris to join him and push boundaries musically to ensure the launch is one to remember.
Dancers features plenty of exciting collaborations with artists from an array of musical backgrounds, including Georg Levin, half of Wahoo with Dixon and a BBE and Sonar Kollektiv associate, Parallel Dance Ensemble's vocalist Coco Solid, Sex Judas – a mysterious but frequent collaborator with Tim, and Ben Shemie from fast rising Canadian band The Suuns as well as Forrest, someone very much about to breakthrough in his own right. Together they have crafted a standout album that joins the dots between indie dance, post punk, electro and house music.
Tim Paris- It’s not easy ploughing a furrow that ain’t already been ploughed in dance music, but Tim Paris makes it look easy. Nestling somewhere between the sideways slant of a sepia Sunday morning and the electrostatic seduction of a Saturday night, Tim has carved out a cultural niche that is his, and his alone. His original productions range from the jaw-droppingly original (It’s a Fine Line – Woman), to the heartbreakingly sublime (Tim Paris – Outback, Stones & Vinyl), and his remixes (Silicone Soul; The Xx; Telepop Musik; Salif Keita) reflect his unique musical position. Tim’s label, Marketing Music, has quietly gone about releasing some of the most innovative and gloriously confounding electronic house music of the past decade, and his collaboration with ex Black Strobe bohemian Ivan Smagghe, It’s a Fine Line, has borne fruit, after juicy fruit. Dancers, his first full-length release, was signed by Canadian label My Favorite Robot and is an astonishing piece of work. Switching effortlessly from metallic electro purring, to slack-jawed new-wave disco, to shimmering, bewitching, house, it marks a new high point in a career rammed full of them.
