On the 8th of November well esbalished South African born DJ Samatha Blackburn open the doors to the refurbished L!FE, the old Brickhouse, and presents her new venture; Buntu.

Buntu will aim to be a foundation for a community, bringing together likeminded friends to encurage a creative expansion. Buntu will provide a platform for a wide convergence of musical artists, DJs and visual artists, to come together and create something new and special that will give your musical experience a depth. The sounds of the night will float with deep rolling, percussive, tribal and techy sounds and also explore the roots of house and techno accompanied by live instrument and creative visuals.

For the launch event we proudly presents the talented percussionist Jayondrums. Jayondrums has been playing percussion and working alongside local and international DJs, singers and musicians for over 18 years. He has entertained millions of people all over the world; developing a unique style that compliments most genres of music. He will perform live throughout the evening and his performance will both be in centre stage and accompanying the DJ line up.

Two very special guests behind the decks are Ray Stanley and Kid K who both have been a great inspiration to Samantha from the beginning of her career. Ray Stanley have worked with some of the best in the industry, and was providing records to many great DJs on the London and national club scene from his well-established record store in Camden, Vinyl Rulz, it was in this record store where Samantha stroke up a friendship with Ray and she also became acquainted with Kid K. These days rarely making an appearance in London, Kid K's appearances have been wide spread abroad and he is a familiar face behind the decks at WYS, Culture Box and Shelter NY to mention a few places. His passion for vinyl reflects his philosophy of quality over quantity tunes and you can expect to hear the very best of his collection in Buntu sound stream. Ray Stanley and Kid K have also started new exciting musical projects that will be well worth the wait… Alongside them we’re very excited to present Shane B playing b2b with Wallace WD.

Visuals on the night are provided by Taryn Jo (Prism Dynamics), they are known to be progressive and beautiful in their design, and their movement and colour scheme will be an excellent complement to the urban theme of the night.

Samantha’s aim with Buntu is to explore new creative ground in East, and hopefully awaken a interest that will see artists of all forms coming together to create an expereince more than an electronic musical event. For upcoming nights we can expect more underground DJs, pure vinyl nights and events with a stonger visual influence.

L!FE will be the perfect back drop to this intimate night, as most of us knows the venue offers a Funktion One Sound system, a stylish outdoor smoking area and an impressive cocktail list.
