Cinthie heads to Yaya this weekend.
The best thing about Bank Holidays is how close the following weekend is. You’ve just got enough time to recover before it’s time to do it all again. And this weekend there is plenty of get excited about, from cosy clubs to historic castle raves and plenty in between.
YAYA Presents Cinthie, Gonzo’s Tea Room, Norwich
Back of the net! Someone in East Anglia is braving putting on a proper party, with a proper headliner. And that headliner is Cinthie, the much loved Berlin boss of numerous labels include Unison Wax and Beste Modus. Her house sound is a serious one that ranges from deep to more raw and comes informed by years of partying in her hometown. She’s also just finished building herself a new studio so could well be armed with some of her own fresh new beats.
We are dedicated to celebrating the grass roots clubs at Ibiza Voice and this event really caught our eye.

Chris Liebing at Village Underground, London
At the other end of the scale, they don’t come much more qualified than Chris Liebing, the long time techno champion who made his CLR label one of the biggest in the game. Now focused on a more funky, minimal sound, he’s just put out his first new music in almost a decade on Mute Records. To mark the occasion he plays an extended set, at one of London's best venues, with support from former Space Ibiza resident Confidns.
Charlotte de Witte at Cosmic Ballroom, Newcastle
For ten years now, ape-X has been flying the flag for sweaty underground raving up in the toon. The venue for their regular event is a raw, unfussy space with exposed structures and a cauldron like atmosphere that always comes alive and makes for a perfect place to hear one of techno’s biggest new school stars bang out her dark and unrelenting style. Charlotte de Witte is joined by local boy Man Power, who is a regular on labels like DGTL and Optimo Music.
Minival 10. The Castle Party, Kincardine Castle
What could be better than raving by a river in the shadow of a giant victorian country house? That’s one this 10th anniversary, one-day spectacular promises, as well as street food, “bespoke sound systems and event production never seen in the North East” and a hefty line-up covering house, disco, afro and techno. The big names include a live show from Âme, plus gentler grooves from Nightmares on Wax, a set from Awesome Tapes From Africa, tech from Cristoph, plus a back to back from JG Wilkes and Hammer of Optimo and Feel My Bicep respectively.
Black Coffee at Mint Club, Leeds
The intense soundbox that is Mint welcomes Black Coffee this weekend. He is just about to embark on a second summer residency at the giant Hï Ibiza so this is a great chance to catch him in a smaller environment and hear what makes the South African so revered (clue: it’s his languid and lush deep house and kinked percussive rhythms.) Themba supports at this cultured get together.
