DGTL is back for it's 4th year in Barcelona with their epic stage design.
DGTL is a Dutch promotional powerhouse that established itself in Amsterdam. Taking over a repurposed industrial area in the docklands, their flagship festival has become known for its spectacular production. Each year they convert hangers and huge glasshouses into raw but sensory stimulating spaces with next level lights, lasers and art installations. They are also focussed on innovations to help reduce waste, lower CO2 emissions, increase awareness and stimulate sustainable participation amongst visitors.
All of these values have been taken on the road and now there are, or have been, DGTL showcases in São Paulo as well as Tel Aviv.In August 10th and 11th, for the fourth time, the team return to Parc del Fòrum in Barcelona. It’s a spacious venue come industrial estate by the sea, with warehouses, iconic buildings such as the Natural Science Museum and a tree lined esplanade, all baked in hot Barcelona sun.
You can expect the site to come alive with all manner of conceptual art performances, thought provoking installations and of course various sustainability initiatives that ensures the festival has a minimal environmental impact. Musically, DGTL have their finger on the pulse with a mix of big headliners such as Spanish techno titan Oscar Mulero, Dystopian loop master Rødhåd, veteran Speed J, breakthrough sensation Amelie Lens and Diynamic house king pin Solomun. Ibiza mainstays also feature such as Jamie Jones, Maceo Plex and Hot Since 82.
But for those who like more diverse and challenging sounds, there is also plenty to get excited about. Chief amongst those offerings are some back to back DJ sets that really get you exited for what might happen including Detroit’s Carl Craig and Panoramabar associate Cassy, the dizzyingly diverse Ben UFO and Job Jose, and Dekmantel’s balmy house man Palms Trax and Rush Hour’s global crate digger Antal. Plenty of live specialists also feature including KiNK, Fjaak, Tuff City Kids, Fatima Yamaha and Detroit Swindle, while all shades of house will be on offer from Apollonia, Honey Dijon, Peggy Gou and DJ Tennis.
So, if you fancy a mid-summer trip to a guaranteed hot spot that offers plenty of cultural delights, DGTL Barcelona should be right on the top of your hit list.
