Andy Weatherall hits Sub Club, this week.

Well, as you’ve probably noticed, it sure is hot. And it looks likely to stay this way until well beyond the weekend, but that shouldn’t be an excuse to miss out on a wealth of top parties up and down the UK in the next seven days. Here come the best according to us, including a rooftop rave and other open air sessions.

Andy Butler at Headrow House, Leeds

Headrow House boasts one of the most prime rooftop party spaces in Leeds. It’s lushly decorated with plenty of great seating and space to dance. Given the current heatwave, you’d be mad not to attend this special event with Hercules & Love Affair’s flame-haired front man Andy Butler. The New York house and disco don always brings colourful party vibes so this should be a special one indeed.

Leon Vynehall at Black Box, Belfast

As he celebrates the release of his chef d’oeuvre, Ninja Tune’s Leon Vynehall is busy playing myriad DJ dates, but this one in Belfast is set to be one of the best as he plays all night long. The album itself is a grandiose affair touching on minimalism and featuring a proper string section, wild textures and plenty of great atmospheres, so expect him to draw on the same sort of inspiration in this extended set.

Dixon Avenue Basement Jams at The Berkeley Suite, Glasgow

You can always reply on no frills but plenty of thrills from the DABJ crew, who have decades of experience of house, techno and rave to draw on for their own sets, and on Friday they are joined by Machine Woman. She is a rising star from Russia with her own esoteric techno sound that is playful and irreverent.

Fuse Open Air Day Party at Motion, Bristol

Fuse do stripped back, dubbed out tech grooves like no other, and this Saturday they leave their London home and head to Bristol’s Motion for a special party that runs midday to 10pm. Boss man Enzo leads the charge with Archie Hamilton and Seb Zito helping to bring that signature sound to a super outdoor space overlooking the river Avon. This is one for dancers, those who like to get busy on the floor and lost in a series of moments for hours on end.

Joy Orbison b2b Evan Baggs at The Pickle Factory, London

Pickle Factory is one of London’s finest small spaces. Holding just a couple of hundred people, it’s a real up close and personal party space that welcomes back occasional resident Evan Baggs this Friday. He will be playing all night long with Joy Orbison, the bass and techno darling who brings a real UK flavour to everything he does. It will be fascinating to see how the pair work together, and just how far they can go over the course of more than six hours.

Andrew Weatherall at Sub Culture, Glasgow

Weatherall has been playing Sub Club since the dawn of time—probably—so it’s a real home from home and somewhere to find him absolutely at one with the crowd. Expect his usual techno chuggers, cosmic colours and psychedelic tendencies to add up to a perfectly paced, brilliantly balanced trip from an absolute DJ master.

Dimensions International Series at Patterns, Brighton

The Dimensions crew continue to play various parties in the lead up to their main event, and this week they hit Brighton. Berlin based South African and Uzuri founder Lakuti brings her authentic and passionate house and disco selections, while Melodies International co-boss and cult jazz, soul, funk and rare disco aficionado Mafalda also line-ups. The Dimensions Soundsystem completes the picture.
