Dr Rubinstein will be digging deep for her set at Soup Kitchen this Friday

Welcome back to your essential weekly party guide. Aside from the small matter of a first semi-final for the England football team in 28 years, there are also some vital protest parties, anniversary festivals and all-night sessions to get excited about in the next seven days, so dive in.

Manchester crew Meat Free have built a great party with some great headliners but, more importantly, a knowing and involved crowd and excellent residents. All that comes together again on Friday at Soup Kitchen, a nice cosy venue that will bang to the sound of founders Blasha & Allatt, aalice and Lucy Ironmonger, and the increasingly widely celebrated Berlin up and comer Dr Rubinstein, who has a cosmic techno sound.

This is a new party from the people who put on the huge Terminal V techno festival earlier in the year. It takes place at a waterfront location in the Ocean Terminal event space, and this is the first party ahead of a bigger event in August and regards after that. The large-scale rave promises adventurous production and music from Chicago great Green Velvet as well as modern tech talent Detlef.

Loose Joints at The Berkley Suite, Glasgow

Consistently one of the most essential venues in Glasgow, this week The Berkley Suite welcomes Music From Memory co-founder Jamie Tiller. The deep digger has been responsible for some incredible compilations that touch on ambient, lost Brazilian electronic music, dub and plenty in between. His set is sure to be widescreen and colourful and will draw on scenes from all over the world.

Certi Audio at Hideout, Brighton

Dekmantel and Rush Hour artist Tom Trago is still basking in the glory of his fourth album. It was a mellifluous, neon coloured house record with innovative grooves and plenty of melody and marked another evolution in his sound. Expect plenty of that as well as a well-informed selection of the host and techno that has made him such a mainstay of the Amsterdam scene.

Revolution Day at Soho Radio, London

Great one, this: the people of the global dance scene unite to dance in protest at Donald Trump’s visit to the UK. It will all be aired on Soho Radio and the likes of Eats Everything, Seth Troxler, Heidi, Midland, Prosumer, Jackmaster, Hannah Holland, Luke Solomun, Breach and many more will all play the 12-hour marathon.
