An early Easter weekend means that focus in the spring falls in late March, but London has a surprise up its sleeve for April: Carl Cox. After a three-year hiatus from the capital, the self-styled King of Clubs brings his own inimitable brand of techno from the Space terrace to long-time hangout Heaven on 10th of the April.
As with many of his contemporaries, he made his mark in the UK in the 90s, so this decade has been one of globetrotting, from New York to Sydney, and Rio to Tokyo. Fresh from a tour in Australia, where he's a regular January fixture at the Big Day Out festival, he lands in the capital on his way back from his annual jaunt to the Miami WMC.
Not many could fill a club the size of Heaven on a Thursday, but with his deck presence he brings a monster line-up of house, techno, drum 'n' bass and breaks.
Alongside Cox in the cavernous main room is Dutch techno wizard Michel de Hey, and UK star Jon Rundell. The star bar sees Aussie D'n'B noiseniks Pendulum playing a rare DJ set, with Meat Katie and Breakfastaz providing the scuzzy beats.
Claudio Coccoluto's Angels Of Love man the Dakota Bar and X-Press 2 legend Ashley Beedle is present in the plush surroundings of The Island.
With an artist album in the offing this year, and a DVD, no less, charting his DJing exploits with a set from the WMC, 2008 looks like another sterling year for one of the UK's favourite musical sons. Put the 10th in your diary....
