Now, only days away, the mother of all music conferences is about to kick off the summer season with a vengeance. No-one knows the WMC better than Adam Gill, head honcho of Embrace Productions, who teamed up with Future Mob last year to bring us 10 of the biggest and most eagerly anticipated parties of the 2007 conference. One+One (Nic Fanciulli & James Zabiela), Get Physical (M.A.N.D.Y., Booka Shade) and A Night with Sander Van Doorn parties were just some of his handiwork that shook the conference and took the hedonistic experience to dizzy new heights.

We decided to take him to task over one of our favourite topics: DJs. The good, the bad, the ugly, the ones that rock, the ones that don't, the ones that burn a hole in your memory. So we got on the blower to Adam Gill and shook him down for his thoughts on some of the world's most notorious and highly regarded spinners.

You must have come across an amazing array of DJs in your time at WMC… which DJs have blown your mind, performance-wise, over the past years?
"Every year there are new experiences, which adds to the magic that is, Miami. One gig I particularly remember is Sander Kleinenberg at Space six or seven years ago… pretty awesome stuff. The first Lights Out party with Steve Lawler back in 2004 was very special. Get Physical party we did last year with Booka Shade and M.A.N.D.Y completely blew me away too… there's so, so many."

Are there any DJs who have impressed you with their wild behaviour or simply their pure party stamina?
"I know a few! Last year Damian Lazarus rang me after his Crosstown Rebels party and asked me where I could get a sound system from - this was about nine in the evening. I said it being the Saturday of the conference it was gonna be tough one but I'd see what I could do! We managed to get hold of one for them and it turns out that all the Crosstown Rebels lot - Damian, Clive Henry, Jamie Jones - were all still partying hard with the likes of M.A.N.D.Y. etc….their party had finished at 11 that morning so you can imagine how crazy it must have been!"

We've all been there - you know, all excited about hearing one of your favourite DJs play a set and then feeling a bit disappointed when they aren't as good on the night as you'd expect… is that something you've ever experienced at the WMC?
"It's not something that I've experienced at the WMC. We have the highest calibre of DJs playing here - everyone's been partying and the atmosphere is always good. Even if someone does do a slightly 'less than average' set, no-one is bothered. The DJs, producers and labels have had a quiet couple of months in the studio over the New Year, so everyone's excited, everyone wants to have the best time possible!" All of artists we deal with HAVE to work hard.

Who is the hardest working DJ you've worked with?
"All of artists we deal with HAVE to work hard. There's so much competition if they didn't work hard they wouldn't be where they are today! Steve Porter works really hard with his Porterhouse parties at WMC that we host - and Deadmau5, who's doing his first label party, Maustrap, here this year."

And who would you say is the nicest, most down-to-earth A-list DJ you've met?
"Everyone we deal with is pretty cool people - that's one of our policies. Zabiela and Fanciulli are both really decent guys, they're about pleasing the fans more than anything.

Who would be your dream DJ to book?
"Ricardo Villalobos or Sven Vath would be amazing… there were rumours they were going be here but doesn't look like it this year."

You are based in Toronto, Canada. Deadmau5 is a fellow Canadian who's broken through last year. Are there any DJs who you've got your eye on in terms of breaking through at the conference?
"Deadmau5 has done really well. I'm really excited about his party at Bed - its going be amazing. We've got Tommy Lee coming, which is pretty cool."

Can you give us a quick run down of your party highlights for this year?
Wednesday 26th we've got The Maustrap at Bed with Deadmau5 and Tommy Lee.
27th is Get Physical Miami at Studio A with M.A.N.D.Y., Teifschwarz and Heidi - that's going to be amazing.
The 29th is the crazy Crosstown Rebels party at Studio A - I'll be expecting more mayhem there! And we have Erol Alkan and Simian Mobile Disco making their Miami debut at the Fixed WMC Freakout party at Studio A."

There you have it… all you need to know about the jocks rocking Miami. If that doesn't inspire you to get off your pasty backside onto a plane I don't know what will!
