"With more paella palaces than you can shake a castanet at, it's sometimes hard to sort the good from the bad and the ugly of Ibiza's multitude of restaurants."
"To that end Ibiza Voice cast our mind back through many a lingering meal and riotous cocktail session to come up with a short but sweet list of the island's fail-safe destinations. Here, you'll find the tastiest food, the most potent drinks and -- most importantly -- that all important Ibicenco vibe... "

Only in Ibiza would you find a restaurant and bar housed in the combination of a genuine Balinese jambak and a traditional Ibicenco farmhouse, The Asian-Mediterranean fusion food generally reads better than it eats but the setting more than makes up for it. And there's a wicked cocktail menu which gives a whole new meaning to the word 'spiritual'. |
This long-time favourite is one of the classiest eateries in San An and one of the best Thai restaurants in Ibiza. Worth the trip to the other side of the island even if you wouldn't be caught dead in the west end.

Sophisticated club bar or poseur's paradise. Who knows? You decide. Cala Jondal certainly provides a stunning daytime setting for this beach bar and restaurant. By night, behind the glass doors, it becomes an intimate club that's been the setting for some of the best 'secret parties' on the White Isle. |
El Ayoun's decor is stunning, Morrocan-inspired in the restaurant and garden, coolly modern in the El Privado Club bar. The food fuses Mediterranean with North African and this year sushi. Anywhere but Ibiza this combination of cuisine and decor would guarantee a poncey clientele too scared to enjoy themselves for fear of sweating on their designer slingbacks. Not here. This place has hosted DC10 after-parties and you don't get much messier than that. |

Once KM5 was one of Ibiza's many brothels, now it's arguably the island's best chillout bar. Moroccan tents, Arabian fabrics, hammocks, beds and rich cushions create a Bedouin oasis feel. A roster of some of the island's best deejays play music to fit the laid-back feel of the place. The food's not cheap, but not outrageously expensive. The cocktails can creep up and hit you on the head. |
The ultimate high-class sunset spot, L'Elephant boasts the most impressive roof terrace in Ibiza with elegant designer furnishings to match its sweeping views of the island. Afterwards, enjoy an unforgettable meal in the equally beautiful restaurant. |

The last unspoilt beach on this part island, the self-proclaimed 'Republica de S'Estanyol' is a gem. Sadly the authorities put a stop to the amazing full-moon parties which used to carry on through the night, but the restaurant's excellent sound system still gets an occasional impromptu airing. |
Although Sol Den Serra's only slightly off the beaten track it remains something of an Ibiza insider's secret. The restaurant and bar feels as if it's been caved into the cliffs above the pebble strewn bay. Below it on the beach white-canopied beds - not loungers - offer a cool place to pass the hot days and warm nights of an Ibizan summer. It's also been the setting for more than one after-party |

Once upon a time Cala Conta had a beautiful beach and a bar with the charisma of a motorway services cafe. Then in 2006 the dreary snack bar was turned into Sunset Ashram. The music's a combination of chilled local deejays and occasional live sets. The food a tasty mixture of Indian and Mediterranean. The juices are organic and the cocktails are lethal. |
Chiringuito Es Cavallet has been a magnet for fans of seaside dining for more than twenty years. Born as a simple kiosk in the 80s it has grown into a much-in-demand restaurant offering super-fresh fish, paellas and a suitably extensive wine list.
