Circoloco Ibiza Opening 2008 - The Circus is back at DC10.

"There is a tension and anticipation surrounding Circoloco's opening at DC10 more typically felt on the eve of a heavyweight title bout. The nondescript one-story club, surrounded by corrugated iron fence and an expanse of dusty car park, looks like the "before" candidate for a home makeover show."
Yet DC10 is the most infamous venue in Ibiza (probably the world) an institution that has passed into rave vernacular as an adjective, and a party-spot that inspires feverish loyalty.
Since the dramatic, but brief, forced closure by the government at the beginning of last season DC10 watching has become the island's equivalent of spectating a prize-fight.
Everyone is watching each feint and blow as the club, police and Ibicenco authorities circle warily. There is the new after-hours law explicitly aimed at stamping out the Monday morning madness. The news that the owner faces prison for alleged opening hours violations from two seasons back. There have been noise complaints and counter-claims; stories of Guardia abuse and drugged up clubbers.
For one unforgettable moment last summer there was a public face off when police stopped Luciano's set mid-record, igniting a howl of protest from the dancefloor that eventually sent the coppers scurrying out the doors. Accordingly feelings are running high as the opening party approaches. Confirmed for Monday, 2 June it summons back to its gritty interior the DJs who have become synonymous with its name and sound: Luciano, Tania Vulcano, Clive Henry, Dan Ghenacia, Cirillo, Mathias Tanzmann, Jose de Divina, System Of Survival.... It's a show of musical force meant to say :
"We're Circoloco and we're not going anywhere"
An affirmation not just of the party's never-say-die spirit but of the loyalty of its stars. People predicted this party wouldn't happen, but happily that's not the case. There are still issues working through the courts and the government is keeping a sharp eye on DC10 for any infractions, but there is a sense of optimism in the face of adversity. Ever since the first crisis of last summer Ibiza Voice has been speaking up for the partiers around the world who love the island, love the clubs, and are prepared to fight for this beautiful way of life.
To see DC10 reopening on 2 June (mid day, 12.00) is a vindication and a celebration - we'll be at front, waving a glass of hierbas in salute to another season of Circoloco...
