This record is the last thing I need to hear right now. Trapped on an island where the best club in the world has been closed down forever by over zealous political forces. Where the term after-hour has become a vicious dream or a forbidden swearword. Where by 6.10am I am left alongside 6000 others standing in a dusty car park with a lonely plastic cup clicking some melting ice and the remains of a watery vodka, left to trawl slowly home to lie in bed with only the sounds in my head to accompany me on the way to a difficult and reluctant sleep. This is the last EP I want to be hearing at precisely this moment in time.

Were I not living in Ibiza of course, I'd think these tunes were perfect. Were DC10 open, these are precisely the sort of tracks that I'd be expectantly listening out for on a Monday afternoon, and quite possibly hear on a regular basis.

Monoblock have once again come up with a thoroughly well rounded EP of frenetic industrial sound magically mingled with melody and a light-hearted tune as renowned from their growingly renowned live sets.

Rizco is a strong opener with a powerful and catchy rift, under laid with some busy percussion to get the pulse racing and pace moving, a perfect example of the sort of sound that the duo conjure out of their laptops when playing together. Irresistibly groovy and instantly catchy, if you're not frantically throwing shapes on the dance floor by a couple of minutes in then you've obviously got some aural or physical disability.

Dobason is more laidback but no less fussy. A mismatch of interlinking bass lines crisscross through some nice 808 snatches down a winding discordant path and back again. Definitely left of centre but still able to blow the dust out of out anyone's ears on a decent sound system.

Ombù suddenly reveals more of the Uruguayan roots and Valencia base of the duo than anything that's come out of their studio so far. There's something of the Pier Bucci about this, and that's meant as a sincere compliment. This is large-scale orchestral sound as a plucked synth plays dreamy flamenco riffs and moulds into a deep sub bass. In lieu of DC10, I'll wait to hear Luciano play this at Cocoon. In fact, even in Ibiza Monoblock will be popping into their regular haunt of Monza by the last week of August for a usual live set, so I guess all isn't doom and gloom.

Maybe I'll just postpone further listening till then and lessen the torture.
