Tsuba is one of the UK's leading imprints when it comes to releasing deep, sexy underground house and techno on to a dance floor following . This is a follow up to the labels Samurai EP, aptly called Return of The Samurai. It is a four track, warrior that is without question, Tsubas best release to date. With a stellar line up of Two Armadillos, Rozzo, Berlin based David Pher and Nima Gorji; just try and choose a favourite.
Peter Dildo, also known as Rozzo proves he's got something special under his vinyl sleeve with the moody and mechanical Muramasa. Mirroring his mix of the minimal funk track Plasma from Aural Distortion, this will send you to the back alleys of an old industrial warehouse, where garbage cans and saucepans rave freely, that is until reality kicks in and the swinging pendulum signals home time. This is slightly more warped than Rozza's usual fare of solo productions that are more often than not peppered with soul. Yet the late night atmospherics are transfixing and you can't help but dig it's no frills attitude.
Fearlessly plunging his Japenese Sword into the next track is Nima Gorji, an artist causing a stir with releases for the likes of his own Welt Recordings, Murmur. This is a tech house stomper destined to tear the club up with the amazing vibe it brings to the fore. Similar in sound to Illario Allicante's In Deep Tubes with its half-bar snipped loops and funky bassline. The big omniscient vocals make this palatable to any DJ ready for a bit of Latino flavour. and London-based
Jazz Falutin is the 12" romantic bass-roller that sees the upwardly mobile Two Armadillos serve up a hazy groove which flirts its way through a deep house/techno dosey doe. Consisting of King Roc and Secret Sundaze Giles Smith, the magic of this duo always exceeds a warm, suave and sophisticated outcome. This is understated just like their previous records, Nostalgia and To The Mountain Top, yet completely sublime.
Saving the best till last is David Pher's, Sweet Little Sin. This is sweeter than cotton candy and more sinful than sex which means the two contraries bounce off each other perfectly. This track melts slowly and feels ripe enough to sink your teeth into. It's oozing with delicious organic loopy beats and near-transparent keys which sound similar to those used in SIS Orgsa. If this doesn't beckon you to the dancefloor with its come hitcher rhythm then perhaps it's time to question your inner-sinner......
