Recently released on Luke Solomon and Derrick Carter's relaunched 'Classic' label comes Bruno Gauthier's 'It's Love'. While the pair have been reluctant not to take on any material unless they felt it was still relevant to where the label was 15 years ago, they've unearthed a real gem here. It may well sound 15 years old, though that's no bad thing, as the quality of this production still shines through.

As simple as it is effective, the original is little more than Magda (not that one) Zagba's vocal peppered over a few piano chords. The label themselves perhaps summed it up best when they called it a "lullaby to the days of Classic's past" and there's no arguing with that.

There's also extended and dub mixes courtesy of Luke Solomon himself, while Simon Baker again continues to throw the rule book out the window just like he did with Simian Mobile Disco's 'Sleep Deprivation.' Both the Baker and Solomon remixes take little inspiration from the original, instead bringing it to tougher territories. Baker's remix, utilising the vocal in a way only he knows best, is a real highlight and is a track made for funkier dance floors than the original.

'Classic' long time ally Rob Mello is also on hand remix wise, and he couldn't have a more apt sounding surname considering his efforts.

With 7 releases on this, there's certainly been no shortage of producers looking to tweak and revitalise this track. One for chillout and old schoolers, 'It's love' is house music in its purest, least pretentious form.
