Causing a stir this summer is Frankfurt based DJ Matthias Vogt. Filed under the Motorcitysoul moniker with his partner C-Rock, together the boys have produced several groundbreaking records on highly-acclaimed House-Imprints like Freerange and most recently, Simple Records. Well known for being a trained pianist and jazz musician, Vogt is back, this time driving a one man van into a deep and contempory house groove.

My Enchanted Basement is well executed for the ears with quality production that makes a four track circular journey sound natural and effortless. Kicking off with "Roofs", prepare to be pulled underground by trippy keys and mad aquatic sounds enjoying the darkness of the underworld. Stripping down to its most natural elements, this is minimal, bassy and somewhat spooky with its analogue jolts and sweeping pads. The question of what lies beneath takes over from any plans to ‘raise the roof'; we wouldn't blame you if you've already got your ears to the ground praying the growling climax will swallow you under.

The remix rendition, pioneered by Audio Soul Project takes on a much housier vibe, bubbling with popping techy percussion and starry female vocal stabs. Fathoming the sounds of the recently released "Bit More Grit" EP, Audio Soul Project tear apart the organic sounding "Roofs" in a bedlam of Latin percussion, stacked high with playful piano keys and roaring Jupiter 8 stabs.

"My Enchanted Bassment" pays homage to the Chicago acid house days with its sprawling warm snyth drone. Dropping the drums, adding some crunch, and flittering like crazy, there is almost an uncomfortable friction to this intensive track.

With one last remix from Nathan Drew Larsen, Fresh Meat's very own DJ Harvey, stretches "My Enchanted Basement" into a ten minute plus melodic but chunky edit. The padded piano synths hammer away much like before but there's no doubt its Audio Soul Projects epic mash up that will stand tall as the dancefloor burner this summer.
