Bastions of UK dance music Nick Muir and John Digweed return with a track that fits neatly into the 'trademark' DJ sets Mr. Digweed has become identifiable to delivering over his 20 years in the industry. Timo Maas takes on remix duties to deliver solid beats and intense looping rhythms that drive out from the offset and the flow continues at this pace but fails to differentiate from the straight line driving direction that the track takes. Its a floor filler which mainly serves to plug a hole in a mainroom/bigroom DJ set. Unfortunately, the over zealous application of volume translates into over-limiting and a lack of mastering which drags this remix down even further.

Tangent  proves a worthy predecessor to Maas’s limp and creatively uninspiring remix and is what one would actually expect from Bedrock. In fact it’s a beast waiting to be unleashed on an unsuspecting floor. Disposing of intro's or build-ups it opens straight off with dark, driving, rolling bass elements. Individually tuned high-hats then pierce the musical canvas as they embed over hustling shakers that are icy in precision and kick out over tone deep synthesised harmonies, which adds to the overall sinister feel existing in the track. As the musical layers increase in density atmospheric washes and wind rushes weave in and out to resonate over a percussive acid infused bass line. Coming in at 9mins12secs makes for a lengthy listen and almost predictably at 5.5 minutes the prog monstor breaks down stripping the beats and bass to leave only those atmospheric washes and a siren that warps and pans to mutate into a spacey tripped out sound. The warped atmospheric breakdown is a positive addition to the comparable Maas remix and partly what improves the track. As it goes all uplifting it kicks back with a clean punching bass once again laid over that reverbing siren. Its a darkly tribal/progressive track that would be well suited to be dropped at those watershed moments (2am anyone?) in a nights clubbing when the floor needs a little working but lacks the imagination to be coined a 'fresh' or'classic'. Think big room chaos, textbook Bedrock, trademark Digweed.
