Konsequenz Berlin... In the groove. In the increasingly cutthroat, competitive world of Berlin based record labels, it's essential any emerging imprint stand out from the crowd to withhold any chance of surviving more than a few years. Say hello then, to Konsequenz, a forward thinking imprint formed in early 2008. The idea for the label was conceived by production duo James Blonde & Zico (Marcus Suiter) and while their rise has been steady rather than spectacular, their goals looks set to come to fruition in the near future.

The goals in question? For James Blonde & Zico to establish a mutual platform to showcase their similar music tastes, or specifically, what they refer to as "organic epic electronic music." So far then, so good. Konsequenz mainstay Oliver Deutschmann & Koljah has brought most of the success to the imprint. His track, 'Slowly we Rot' received a fresh lick of paint courtesy of one of electronic music scenes rising stars, the British born Berliner, Ed Davenport. Tracks from the same record even ended up on Len Faki's Berghain 03 CD, further testament to the quality which flows through the EP.

Such was the success of that and other records, that inevitable label showcases soon emerged in some of the world's most notorious nightspots - think Panorama Bar in Berlin and The Egg in London. The label have momentarily taken a break to focus promoting it's recently established sublabel, entitled Blitz Recordings.

The idea behind Blitz is essentially, to succesfully showcase a techier sound. The proof is in the pudding, with recent tracks like James Blonde & Lonya's  "Junky Indian" and Werner Niedermeier's "Toolin" Around" emphasising the fact that the Konsequenz boys mean business. The start of the next decade looks equally as busy for Konsequenz, as the labels third 'World is Ours' cd, the platform by which they promote their sound aesthetic, is set for release. Needless to say, 'Konsequenz' will be up and running again come January, alongside 'Blitz.' While the world isn't quite Konsequenz's quite yet, we may well be hearing more from this label in the upcoming years.
