Mexico's New Year BPM Festival 2010

Such has been the success of Mexico's New Year BPM Festival, that it's hard to believe that 2010 marks only the 3rd event. Running from 1st to 10th January at the Playa Del Carmen resort, some 15,000 clubbers, promoters, industry types and of course top DJs will congregate for some winter sunshine and the perfect post Christmas and New Year retox.

This year's event is like a electronic chocolate box with a really spread of favourites, something for everyone, but always a treat. It's easier just to name them to give you an idea of what I mean; Dubfire, Sander Kleinenberg, Nick Curly, Victor Calderone, Stacey Pullen, Guy Gerber, Steve Angello, Steve Lawler. You get the idea. The events are split between various clubs in the resort making sure there's always something different to see.

Whilst these big hitters make up the nocturnal frolicking throughout the 10 day festival, it doesn't take a genius to work out the potential for some fantastic day-time/beach action in this stunning resort. So what better way to recover from Christmas excess and bring in the start of the next decade than dipping your toes in the Caribbean Sea and enjoying the beach party entertainment. Moreover, with the affordable boutique hotels on offer and plenty of other activities away from the dancefloor, you've got the full holiday package here. 24/7 partying is just as much a possibility as a week long R&R.

BPM Founder Craig Pettigrew is clear about the distinct sounds that are covered with the BPM Festival; "We will be hosting numerous day and night events this year in order to offer alternative music options to our discerning crowds" and this really is a highlight of the festival where the normal confines of genre are left to one side and the party/music takes centre stage, kind of like a super short version of the Ibiza season. On that basis, Pettigrew and the BPM team are fully justified in demanding that you "mark your calendars for BPM as the first important date on 2010's global dance music calendar."
