I'll make that a bet that this will be the only Slovenian label we feature on 'In the groove....." this year, which should serve to demonstrate the waves currently being made by the '1605 Music Therapy" crew. 

Barely 18 months old, 1605 is the latest offering from the omnipotent godfather of Slovenian electronic music, Umek, who adds this to the Recycled Loops, Consumer Recreation and Astrodisco imprints, and releases thus far have been typical of the dark, throbbing and popular sounds that have made Umek should a well liked and respected artist since the early 90s. Fergie, one of dance music's near-forgotten DJs, has already released an EP and Umek has invested his faith in debutants like Lukic as well as relative unknowns like Loco & Jam, Vorr, Piatto and D-Unity.  

The best bit though is that in the label's short lifetime, Umek has released 5 of his own EPs and there are at least 2 more to come in the first half of 2010, plus an artist album 'Responding to Dynamic' to boot. Describing his own sound as "precise, gut rumbling techno", you only have to check out current release and album single, Slap, for the evidence; A ripsnorting juggernaut of digital doom that'll have you foot hopping those rumbling guts around your living room or dance floor! 

I always think you get a good idea about a person or a label by getting them to describe themselves, what they are about, their mission statement if you like. 1605 explain what they're about as "a unique integral researching platform for studio sound experimenting, stage performances and multimedia presentation of new sonic structures", which means, again in their own words, "1605 Music Therapy appears in a form of a music label, its whole purpose is to support the artists in spreading their creative output in both music universes, the analog and digital ones".

If you're not sure of what that exactly means, I'll make no apology for leaving you with why exactly that makes 1605 special, described of course as only 1605 know how.........."created from collective vibe, stuffed with technology, open to your mood, effective on sucking it in, this time the aim of the whole platform and its representation in the form of Label 1605 is much courageous. It makes you feel above, between, inside - extremely you. This feeling is based on 1605 Music Therapy. It helps you to enjoy life. Period."
