Thoughtless Music set up shop two years in North American techno hub Toronto as an outlet for the diverse musical interests of co-creators Evan Marc and Noah Pred. These days just Pred-a successful DJ and producer in his own right - helms the label. Of the change, he explains "[Evan's] talent is in high demand and eventually a glut of other projects prevented him from being able to contribute to Thoughtless as much as he wanted to - we still speak often, and we're looking forward to releasing more of his music on the label soon." Nowadays, the label is best known for a consistency in release quality and effective branding that is almost absent in other labels on this side of the pond.

Far from being quixotic, Thoughtless has forged a path with of techno house, atmospheric soundscapes, or even dubstep re-rubs with an aerospace-like precision - capitalizing on the fertile underground network based in Toronto. To date, the label's biggest three successes are the remixes of Marc's album Dreamtime Resubmerged including re-works by Stewart Walker, Kate Simko and bvdub. "It brought a lot of attention to the label, and was a big statement from us in terms of expressing a wide range of output on one release", says Pred of the collection.

Emerging Northern California artist Limaçon's "Rubber Bump" EP also found favor with many DJs and new fans and he's now set to deliver his debut full length Tarry Not for the label in the coming weeks as a follow-up. And lastly, the ongoing Thoughtless Times, a digital compilation series, that Pred feels "has been a really enjoyable showcase for introducing new artists to the label roster alongside tracks from more established artists".

Noah Pred has lofty ambitions for Thoughtless' future but keeps the goals simple and achievable, "For 2010 we want to release great music, and get it heard! But ultimately, to establish ourselves as one of the premier outlets for quality electronic music, regardless of medium. Sure, it's a big goal, and probably quite a ways off - but we're definitely going for it. Go big or go home, right?" Thus far, the label has exceeded expectations.
