Coyu's D.E.G EP is further evidence of this Spanish youngsters emerging production credentials. Ivan Ramos, best known for his work alongside Uner on Hamburg's Liebe*Detail imprint, has earned quite an impressive name for himself over the past year or so via tracks such as 'El baile Aleman' and the 2009 summer defining 'Raw Sweat.'
This latest effort , released on 7 oz records, is surprisingly enough, Coyu's first official solo release. D.E.G is typical Coyu fare - tech house made for the dance floor. D.E.G is awash with horns, piano keys, latin vocals and and an undenying funkiness. While it's hardly a beacon a sophistication, it's a track that will go down a treat wherever it's played - a perfect respite to the swarm of generic deep house which is recently saturating the electronic music map.
The first of the remixes arrives courtesy of the ever capable Brothers Vibe. His ' vibed piano dub' take on the track is more bass laden than the original and similar in nature to his brilliant 'Revolution' EP.
Vibes take on the track is as impressive as the original - with a cool old school "mind, body and soul" vocal which interjects at the half way point.
Mathias Mesteno wraps up the package in a darker, more techno orientated fashion. The original's snake charmer type sample is kept intact. Mesteno's mix is a trippy, eerie workout which is pure peak time fodder which wraps up the package in esteemed fashion. 3 impressive productions from a producer who we've come to expect great things from.
For those searching for a slice of summery tech house bliss, Coyu's D.E.G EP doesn't disappoint.
