It's been a pretty chilly and miserable start to the year so far. Thank goodness, then, for Chilean-born, Zaragoza based Francisco Allendes, who turns in a bit of Mediterranean sunshine in the bleak midwinter. The producer has worked with Cadenza and Martin Eyerer's Kling Klong recently, so it's with something of a sense of expectation that this quartet arrives.

‘Planeta' X, a heavy bongo workout kicks the package off. Of course, you may have probably noticed that there are quite a lot of ‘heavy bongo workouts' doing the rounds at the moment, but this does plenty to justify its existence with good arrangement, tight, nagging grooves and plenty of bottom end.

‘Caos En La Sangre' on the otherhand, brings a whole heap of Eastern intrigue to the table. It's pivotal rising riff and creeping atmospherics would lend it well to taking things down mid-set or creating some vibes early doors.

On the remixes, Daniel Sanchez and E-Contact make a very good fist of stealing the show. They strip the track of it's moody build, stir in a thumping 4/4 kick and emerge with a randy, elastic bass strutter that's quite easily the most immediate track here. Highly recommended.

Someone Else (surely a contender for one of the worst names in house music?) turn in a rub of the same track which retains the mystery and drama of the original , but adding a little more drive. It's worthwhile, if unspectacular. By no means awful, it might just be the weak link in the package.

While this collection of tracks may not completely make sense in chilly northern Europe in mid February, it will certainly have you hankering after your flights to Ibiza. The whole package is very playable, and would be a welcome addition to any house or techno selector's CD wallet or laptop. Now, how long is it until the opening parties?
